Yesterday’s Comments

January 17, 2008
Christine and Nancy are a great help to me when I talk about the weather. Nancy makes me enjoy my Summers when she talks about the 120 degree weather. Christine makes me enjoy my Winters when she talks about the -22 degree weather. Thank you so much. It just makes me feel so much better. Can you see the self satisfied grin on my face? No. Wait. I shouldn’t talk that way. I’ll go live in a cave and eat worms. But I do enjoy Delaware. I think that you should both come for a visit in May. We can sit out on the deck and knit the day away.

This morning.

This evening. Myuushi is always helpful.

When I have to pick up new stitches between the fingers, I pick up twice as many, the knit 2tog. It helps to close the gap. I also do this on heels when making socks.

Here’s my purple and black sweater with my new hat and gloves. Now, I have to make a scarf.

Tomato Soup

January 16, 2008
I was a little depressed last night so I had tomato soup for supper. I gave Doug the left over stir fry. That was good stir fry, but the tomato soup made me feel better. A fried cheese sandwich would have been nice to dunk in it, but I didn’t want that much. It all started when someone down the street handed out fliers about a neighborhood association. It really was about his peeves about everyone. It went beyond ridiculous. It got to me. After a while I realized that I was being ridiculous and gave myself a good talking to. However, I will be glad when Linda returns to hear her rant.

It is really cold today (mid 30’s). I almost turned back on our morning walk, but the wind stopped and I went on. I did look good though. My new hat and gloves looks great with my purple and black sweater. I should make that sweater again. I should also take a picture of it.

Look at the way the little finger patterned. I could not have done that intentionally if I tried.

What’s New, Pussycat

January 13, 2008
It was on PBS last night. I hadn’t seen it in many years. It was funnier than I remembered. What were you doing when it first came out? Wait a minute. Were you even alive? I forget sometimes how old I am. I was married to a man who was trying to drive me insane. He did like movies so I probably saw it with him. Anyway, I know what happened with the male actors, but not the females. There were four that looked familiar. I recognized their names, but I have no idea what happened to them. I will have to look them up. Ah, research! What did I do before I had a computer?

I am a bit pookie today. My cold is still there and i am not happy. I know I don’t have bronchitis. Been there. Done that. I just wish it would go away. We rode down to the supermarket in Laurel. They carry the tuna the cats like and we got some treats for Elvis. How do you spend $100 when you feel like a zombie? I bought some bananas and grapes. I almost bought oranges before realizing that I still had some.

Maude took my advice and went to bed at 8PM last night. Zippo had to find other accommodations.

He was still mad this morning.

It Was So Warm Today

January 10, 2008
I only wore a corduroy top and jeans when we walked the dog. It was so windy, there were white caps on the river and it didn’t matter. We had doors and windows open.

Gus says, “Hi”.

Maude still prefers to nap under the tree. Yes, my tree is still up. The only bad thing was that since it is supposed to get cold and rainy, Doug took down the lights on the deck. He also climbed on the roof and got leaves off. I, however was in embroidery mode. I made this for the back of the table runner.

Then, I decided to make a few more.

Doug used to call Jenn Big Foot.

I just liked the goose. I also found a Maine Coon cat that I hope to make tomorrow. I have to change the colors to look more like Jenn’s.

Good Friends, Happy Thoughts

January 9, 2008

Here are two pictures of some real friends. I believe that I could tell them anything.

And there are others, but I never remember to take my camera with me.

Here are some of my Christmas presents.

Kevin, my grandson, gave me this.

These are from the two prior years.

Don’t tell me you’re not smiling.

We’ve got to have some knitting. These are from Doug.

She is so cool. I’ve been to a few of her classes.

I finished the front of the table runner. I have to make a label and go downstairs to get the batting. Never buy ten yards at once. There is no place to put it.

And we have to have a cat picture.

Happy thoughts to you.

Relationships

January 8, 2008
Christine has caused me to think about people I have known over the years. There was the girl I spent so much time with in high school. She contacted me when I moved back home. She came over. We had a nice time, but we were both very different people. After a while, she seemed eager to leave and I was glad to see her go. Over the years, I mentioned her to other people from school, but no one had had any contact with her. A few years ago, I got a list of classmates that the alumni was trying to reach and she was on the list. I even tried calling her brother. I left a message, but he never called back. It was kind of creepy.Sometimes, I think that I don’t trust women. I had one that stole from me then acted like I stole from her. She still talks about it. Since we both are involved in knitting, we know some of the same people. Some believe her. Others do not. I don’t say much of anything. Why bother. It makes me sad that she is like this. I thought she was my friend when she was really stealing my designs. That’s one of the reasons why I offer free patterns. I don’t need the money. It’s not that important to me. A beret pattern will be coming soon. My girlfriend wants one.

It really surprises me when I get an invitation. I love it when I get an email saying “**** has added you as a friend”. It’s like the cheerleader asking the wallflower. So, I want to say “Thank you” to everyone.

Not a Good day

January 7, 2008
I managed to kill my newest tire this afternoon. Why couldn’t it have been the old one? And of course I was 20 miles from home. Sweetums came and changed it for me. I am so glad it wasn’t raining. Otherwise, it would still be sitting in the parking lot. He did agree with me that it was not a very book store and not worth going back. I did buy a ADC map and a chai tea there. Dusty used book stores are more to our liking.

Doug installed the fans yesterday. They look good. Don’t you think?

I got some more done on my hat. It should be done in a couple of days. I like the way that the colors change. I think I will do another row after this one before the final row.

Happy Retirement Diana!

January 1, 2008
In honor of this auspicious occasion, I declare this Diana Comment Month. You see, I know that she reads my blog, but she never comments. So, for you lurkers out there, and everybody else of course, I am offering a little incentive to comment. It’s not hard. It won’t hurt. Surely, you must have some thoughts on what I have said. For every comment that I receive during the month of January 2008, I will put your name on a piece of paper and put it in my Chanticleer pitcher.  The winner will receive a hand knit pair of gloves.

On the first of February, I will drive over to Walmart and ask a stranger to pick out a slip of paper. Remember, everyone has up to 31 chances to win. Fortunately, I have plenty of paper that hasn’t gone to the recycle center yet. (No virgin paper was harmed in the making of this contest.) When the time comes, I will ask you to scan or copy your hand and your yarn color and weight preferences.

No Electrician

December 28, 2007
I got up early this morning so that I would at least be dressed when the electrician came. Of course, he called shortly after that. Someone called with an emergency and could we wait until Monday? Now I am wondering — will he come on New Years Eve? There was some early morning fog hanging over the creek. A Great Blue Heron flew in, a Bald Eagle flew over and a few ducks and geese were in the water. I love living here.

I haven’t done much of anything today. Doug gave me a cold and it has taken up residence in my chest. I talked to my friend, Linda. They have been sick, too, so we won’t be stepping out tonight. We are going to try for tomorrow. I hope I am not too tired. I have to take my SE up to Dover for the new upgrade and I am getting new software. I am also going to look at the Sapphire 830. They are $300 off. It would be nice to sew and embroider at the same time. Quilting would be easier, too.

My entrelac hat is coming along. I will try to post pictures next time.

Merry Christmas

December 24, 2007
I had hoped to give you all a little Christmas gift, but I couldn’t find it. It must be on my old computer. I’ll have to make another CD because I can’t find the one we originally made. I won’t tell you what it is, but here is a hint.

Now I am off to Reisterstown for a few days.
