It finally made it’s way up to Brooklyn, NY. Will and Ryan were very happy with it. The pictures were taken by my brother, Bill.
Saturday afternoon, I taught Sweetums jr how to embroidery.
Here is the result. I think he did very well. No blood.
Sunday afternoon, we tackled my old manual sewing machine. He needed to get used to it. Instead of pushing buttons, you have to turn dials and push and pull levers. He had bought a pattern and fabric for shorts. It was a ‘learn to sew’ pattern. He should have no problem.
Mending is such a pain. Some of that stuff has been waiting for close to a year. It is so boring. My creative side wanted to throw it all in the creek. I can’t help it. I get these urges. But the frugal side won out. I mean. That would be so wasteful. And it took forever. I would do everything but that for weeks. I would make up reasons in my head for making something. It was awful. Luckily, there is always knitting. But I won.
This is an extremely comfy oversized knit top. I liked it so much I embroidered hearts on it. How could I possibly get rid of it? But it got to be over-oversized. It was kind of ridiculous looking. See that seam next to the hearts? I did that. I took out four inches through the body. Now it is back to just oversized. I’m happy.
I am surprised that I have made it this far without stopping to make something else. I can get pretty bored doing the same thing over and over. I have nine rows to go. Then I start on the final third. It’s charcoal, not a good color for me. That’s why I knitted with the light gray first. Now I’ll have something to compare with it.
Why is that? It was down right hot yesterday. Rain and wind can do that. I know. Quit gripping. But I do it so well. Just ask Sweetums.
Enjoy your Independence Day. I’ve got my red, white and blue blouse on and, of course, my hand knit red, white and blue socks. And the best of all, my Mickey Mouse flag pin. But, I’m still grumpy.
Maria and I wanted to go but her granddaughter was in hospital. The child is smart and talented and has learned to knit and sew with Grandma. They spend a lot of time together. Maria thinks the world of her. So I went alone.
I woke up intending to get out the door early, but it didn’t happen. I was one hundred years old that morning. I couldn’t do anything and didn’t leave until after noon. Still, there was a good amount to look through.
I want to make summer socks in aqua or turquoise. I couldn’t decide which one to buy so I bought all three. The one on the right is nine ounces of cotton tape. I have no idea what I am going to make with it. I just liked it.
Then I drove over to Frivolous Fibers and found this. It’s alpaca, merino and glitz. Don’t ask.
