New Camera

December 30, 2009

My daughter bought my son and me a small digital camera.  I’ve been wanting one to carry when I am walking and Win’s is old.  It’s something I wouldn’t buy for myself because I all ready have a good digital, but this new one certainly is handy.  I took it with me yesterday.  It takes decent pictures.

This is the pier that my neighbor lets me enjoy.   I didn’t sit there today.  It was too cold and windy.  I didn’t relish the possibility of going in the river.  Can you see how high the tide is?

Jenn came down yesterday with a load of firewood for Doug.  She brought enough for two or three years.  Doug was happy as can be.

Here’s my goofy Gus.  He loves his walk.  If it weren’t for him, we probably wouldn’t walk nearly as much as we do.

Flo loves to curl up on my sweaters.

I’ve been looking for my camera case pattern, but I can’t find it anywhere.  Win has all ready asked for a case.  He wants red.  I have a nice metallic knit and some brown suede for the inside.   I haven’t decided on mine yet.  I have lots of pieces I can use.

And A Good Time Was Had by All

December 28, 2009

My babies!  My son went out and bought his sister a nice present and even wrapped it.

I know that he may look like he doesn’t have a brain in his head, but  he is rather bright.  He’s also my grandson.

Bo, their Maine Coon

I showed Cora my gift from my grandson, but she was unimpressed.  What does she know?

Well, Merry Christmas Everyone

December 25, 2009

Win and I went over to my Daughter’s home this morning for breakfast. There was eggs and sausage and bacon and waffles with strawberry sauce and whipped cream and black bottoms and chocolate chip cookies and coffee and orange juice and I’m stuffed.  There was Jenn and John and Kevin and Mee Mau and Cousin Bobby.  Brandon brought Rob and Mandy brought Laurie.  And the answer to the question currently forming in your mind is yes and no.  I took pictures, but they take too long to download here.  We had fun.  Bo, my daughter’s Maine Coon, was trying to mooch a free meal off anyone that went by the laundry room.  At first, he slept on their bed.  He had been out all night.  It was his idea.  He’s a Maine Coon after all.  He can take it.  By the time we were getting ready to leave, he was sprawled out on the living room floor on top of Kevin’s Lego’s.  I  tried to take pictures of him.  If you think that my  Zippo is big, wait until you see Bo.  That’s all for now.  Win is going to take a nap.  Later, we’re going to get Chinese and go to a movie.  Isn’t that what you are supposed to do on Christmas?  Love you!  Yeah, I’m happy.

Doug has a Cold

December 24, 2009

I hope want him to be sick on Christmas.  I’m driving to Reisterstown tomorrow.  My daughter always has everyone over for breakfast on Christmas.  I hope he doesn’t miss it.  And I hope I don’t catch it.  It’s been a long time since I had one.  I’m also hoping this snow will be gone soon.  It is so incapacitating.  I haven’t been out for a walk since Friday.  At least it was a good walk.

Bored

December 22, 2009

I’ve made cookies and wrapped all the Christmas presents.  I think we’re going to have to out tomorrow.  Doug tried to take Gus for a walk, but he only got less than half way down our road.  He said the road was icy and too hard to walk on.  The cats are going crazy.  Cora is the only one who will spend any time out-of-doors.

Well, It Snowed

December 20, 2009

Then it rained, and then it snowed again.  Cora was the only one who ventured out this afternoon.  She didn’t stay out long.  Even though it had snowed several inches, her feet didn’t make much of a dent in the snow.

I am making good progress on the booties.  I should have them finished tomorrow.    Knitting group is tomorrow afternoon, but I don’t know if I will be able to go.  I don’t do snow or ice so we’ll see.

Olive has been enjoying the Christmas tree.  She prefers it to going out in the snow.

My Poor Baby

December 18, 2009

Sweetems went for a colonoscopy this morning.  He spent all evening drinking a gallon of vile liquid and didn’t get much sleep due to having to spend so much time on the toilet.  he slept during the procedure and for almost three hours when we came home.  I was awake when I had mine.  I don’t see how he can sleep like that.  Whenever I try to nap in the afternoon, I find myself staring at the ceiling.

I did get a lot of knitting accomplished this morning.  One booties is finished except for sewing.  And I didn’t change much of anything.  If there is something on TV tonight worth watching, I should finish that and, hopefully, have a picture for tomorrow.  I am really getting anxious to start my socks, but I still have a baby hat to make and maybe a few other little things.

I decided to take Gus for a walk on my own.  He didn’t get one this morning.  We didn’t go to the horse farm or through the woods due to the rough terrain.  There is also still a lot of water at the horse farm.  Some of the paddocks haven’t been used in weeks.

Herringbone Kimono, 2010 Calendar

December 16, 2009

It was deceit enough to take a picture outside.  I really liked making this sweater.  Coming up the back and going down the front was a nice feature.  I still haven’t decided on buttons yet, but the baby isn’t due until February, so there’s time.  I may just let my daughter decide.

Here’s the Jim Shore calendar wall quilt that I made for my daughter.  I personalized it by adding an appliqued heart and special dates.  I added five hanger loops across the top with the leftover binding.  I’m very happy with the results.

I rode down to Salisbury yesterday and bought three bags of Pecan Yummies for my son-in-law at the UPS store.  I’m not certain he will get all three bags.  They do look yummy.

No Ornaments on Our Christmas Tree

December 14, 2009

I’ve decided hat I don’t need them.  Why do I need them?  I’ve got three little girls to decorate it.  And they are not breakable.  Cora is very good at picking the ornaments off and carrying them off to parts unknown.  I am also very afraid that she will do it to one that is very special to me.

It has been raining all day.  It’s only n the mid-fifties, but I am chilled to the bone.  It really sucks.  No wonder I’m in a bad mood.  I have finished the machine sewing.  I even made hangers of it.  Hopefully, I’ll get the hand sewing accomplished in the next day or two.  The babes are sleeping now, so perhaps I can get a lot of it finished tonight.  The baby sweater is finished except for the snaps and buttons.  I haven’t made up my mind yet.

I’m Stiff

December 13, 2009

It’s really been cold for the past few days.  I even had to wear a coat.  Yesterday, it was so windy, we didn’t get very far.  Today, with no wind, we were out for quite a while.  I was really tired and achy when we got back.

I tried to finish my daughter’s calendar quilt this afternoon and had to stop.  Usually, I can sit there for hours, but now today.  So I decided it was time to put up the Christmas tree.  Well, I got Doug to bring it up from the cellar.  No matter what we did, we couldn’t some of the strings of lights to work.  Bummer.  We’ve got to find some more lights.  I never did get any ornaments on.
