Getting Ready for Sheep & Wool

April 28, 2014

I always seem to pack the wrong things.  This year it’s worse.  This year I have three days of workshops, two days of festival and one girls day out.  To make matters worse,  accu-weather shows temps going from 52 to 79.  So now I have even more clothes to pack.  I have clothes there, but they are not something I want to wear in public.

I got out three little tote bags, one for each workshop.  I just have to remember to pick up the right one each morning.  Maybe I’ll leave them all in my car.  I  also have a big tote bag for shopping.  I made a list so I wouldn’t forget the important stuff.

When I get to my son’s, I have to go to the market for lunches.  They have tuna, chicken and shrimp salad.  I’m taking lettuce, bread and oranges.  My son makes great iced tea, so I’ll grab a bottle of that each morning.  Along with coffee, of course.

I was hoping to get my toe socks finished, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now.  I will be working on what I learned that day in the evenings.  Also, my son likes me to go shopping with him for some reason.

Awww!   Ain’t they cute?

I was able to watch the whole thing since they hatched in the middle of the afternoon.  An hour later, they were swimming up the creek.

My New Camera

April 19, 2014

After much hemming and hawing and to-ing and fro-ing, I got a new camera.  It just came, so I went outside and checked the zoom.

I’ve Been Sick

April 18, 2014

Better today. Still tired. I think I scared Sweetums. He’s never seen me that sick. Poor Sweetums.  And poor me.

I’ve been making good progress on my ‘Chausettes de Dentelle’.   I love the way the color changes.  They’ll be so much fun to wear this summer.

Back To Socks

April 14, 2014

I decided to remove the grey section of the scarf.  I should still have about a six-foot scarf.  I’ll probably use the grey in gloves. I ‘ve got plenty of leftovers that I can stripe with the grey.  It’ll look good—-when I get around to it.

In the meantime, I’m making some cotton socks.  I’ve been wanting to make this pattern.  I had the needles(000) and yarn.  And right now, I just don’t feel like messing with the scarf.  Have no fear.  I will be getting back it.  I always do.

Miss Babs Club

April 12, 2014

I was disappointed with my old sock club, so I decided to try something different.   I joined Miss Babs tour.  When the first kit came, I thought, ‘Pretty’.  I started the scarf pattern that came with it and soon realized that it wasn’t for me.  I tried two other patterns with like results.  I finally settled on this one.

It’s ‘Fleece’ from Knitty Winter 2011.  This suits me.  But see that light grey on the left.  I can’t be certain if I like that color or not.  I could leave it out and still have a good length.  I think I’ll knit some socks pondering this predicament.

The Iced Eucalyptus Beret

April 11, 2014

I bought this kit from Craftsy.  I liked the pattern and the yarn and it was on sale.  So why not.    The headband is doubled and it is big enough to cover my ears.  I changed the turning row.   The pattern called for a purl row, but I did a knit two together, yarn over.  I think it’s much prettier.  I followed the pattern until I got to the last five stitches.  I left them on one needle and made a short I-cord.  I do this with just about every hat I make.  It just looks tidy.  And you know I like tidy knitting.
