More Gloves

April 28, 2019

I haven’t decided what to make next.  It has been a while since I’ve had this situation.  It’s a little strange to be able to pick out a project only because I feel like it.

For the past four months, I have been carrying around these gloves.  Now, I can get them finished along with a matching cap.  I don’t know whether to go with cute or practical.  They should look nice with the shawl I made months ago.

I spent the afternoon getting my supplies together for Sheep & Wool.  I’m taking three workshops with Beth Brown-Reinsel.  I’m so happy!

Shrug/Sweater

April 27, 2019

I am so glad this is finally finished.  I spent 3-5 hours a day for 6 weeks,  Somehow, I lost a skein of yarn, but I think the substitution works.  Now I hope that the weather will co-operate and I can wear it to MD Sheep & Wool next week.

Is this picture any better?  You can see the hot pink I-cord bind-off and the contrast on the flap.  This is the biggest article I have made in Brioche.  There are several mistakes that I just left.  The biggest being one flap is 6 stitches wider than the other and one sleeve is 4 stitches bigger.  Oh, well.

Shusui Shrug

With all the pleasant weather, I have been spending a lot of time outside, mostly knitting.  My shrug is finally starting to look like something.  I want to finish it by the end of the month.  Knitting sock yarn on US6 needles is bothering me.  I think it is because it isn’t tidy at all.  My brain says sock yarn means tidy stitches.  You just can’t do that on big needles.  I’m planning a sock yarn pullover on US3’s.  Maybe my brain will be happier with that.

Happy Birthday A.

He’s one year old today.

Here he is with his Grandpa, my brother.  He is always smiling.  I think he knows how lucky he is.  He has brought so much joy to his parents and grandparents.  I love to listen to my brother and sister(in law) talk about him.  You can hear the happiness in their voices and see the joy on the faces.  Keep doing what you do, little guy.  I love what you’re doing to my family.  And, I love you, too.

A Little Bummed

April 6, 2019

My laptop has been acting strangely lately, so this post is a bit out of date.

I had to put my coat on this morning.  Yesterday, I only needed a light sweater. And my feet are cold. I started the day with cotton socks, but I gave up and changed to wool.  I bought some cotton for socks a week ago, but I can’t start knitting them until it gets warmer.  It’s just me.

The kids seem to be waiting for warm weather, too.

A squirrel has discovered the suet feeder, so we need to get the trap.  We haven’t had to use it for a few years. I have no idea where it is.  When we do manage to catch him, we will take him on a little trip across the river.

My old friend, Joyce, is in the hospital again.  She fell and broke her hip.  Now she has pins in both hips.  She has osteoporosis.  She’s shaky and uses a walker.  I try to visit her when I go to my son’s, but often she is too sick or has medical appointments. I worry that I will one day get ‘the call’.  We have been friends for nearly seventy years.
