Watermelon Socks

June 28, 2020

It’s a Lucy Neatby pattern, but I don’t know the magazine.  I usually remove the ones I think I will make and put them in a binder after a few years. I don’t know the name of the dyer either.   Ruth ran off with the label.  It’s probably under a bed in 20 or 30 pieces.

This is Ruth.  She may look the innocent, but she isn’t.

On Face Masks

June 24, 2020

I was getting very tired of looking at expressionless people so I decided to do something about it.

When you look at me you will see a nose and mouth. It just won’t be mine.

Sweetums became jealous so I had to fix one for him too.

A New Phone

June 22, 2020

After six years of good service, my phone died.  Everything linked up beautifully, even my car, but I had to get a new case.  I found one I liked with an extra fold for cards and cash.  It’s very nice, but too much to carry around in my pocket all day.  I needed something smaller.  I found some left-over fabric that I had quilted about ten years ago.  There were two pieces that I trimmed and sewed together.

I’m not a brown person, but it’s soft and slippery and on the inside.  The kitty fabric is sparkly.

Next, I turned down and sewed the hems in place.

I sewed Velcro to the front and flap.  I wish the hearts were on both sides.

Finished! It fits nicely in my pocket and only took an hour to make.

Happy Toes

I was finally able to get a pedicure.  The place that I usually use has not re-opened.  I really liked this girl so I think I will stay with her.

Red-winged Blakbird

June 15, 2020

I was surprised to see a red-winged blackbird on the porch early this morning.  I see them in the trees and the feeder that hangs off the deck.  But this was definitely a first.

Is That A Cormorant?

June 14, 2020

I didn’t think it was a vulture.  It was too sleek.  Sorry for the poor pictures.  I was inside and it was a bit overcast.  By the time I got outside, he was gone.  I didn’t even get to see him fly off.  Maybe next time, if there is one.  They usually travel in large groups.

Now, I want to thank my brother, Bill, for sending me ‘Birds of Maryland & Delaware’.  I’m putting it to great use.

It looks like another nice day.  I believe I’ll go out and enjoy it.

Happy Thoughts Only

June 13, 2020

I have decided that if I can’t say anything positive than don’t say anything at all.  Since I am basically a grouchy person, I haven’t posted in a long time.

I’m looking forward to my daughter and son-in-law visiting next week.  Jenn is helping me cut up Duke’s old tee-shirts for a quilt.  After twenty years in the Navy, he has quite the collection.  I found a tutorial, so I better watch before they arrive.  Sweetums has several projects lined up to keep them busy.

Time to wrap this up.  It is lovely outside.  I need my sock knitting, my tea, my umbrella and to watch water wander down the creek.

Tony says Hi.  Be careful.  He hasn’t bitten anyone today.  Yet.
