More Stuffed

August 23, 2021

Here are the rest. They were a little tricky, but I think they are great. From left to right we have: Hansel, the old witch, Gretel, March Hare, Queen of Hearts, Alice, Grandmother, the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. The two little things in front are catnip mice, but I just stuffed them. The Destroyer of Catnip Mice lives here. The aftermath would NOT be a pleasant sight. Now, what do I do with them?

Stuffed Things

August 20, 2021

I was looking around Etsy for something different to do. I bought tea towels from Sarah Young. They were easy. They were fun.

On Face Masks

June 24, 2020

I was getting very tired of looking at expressionless people so I decided to do something about it.

When you look at me you will see a nose and mouth. It just won’t be mine.

Sweetums became jealous so I had to fix one for him too.

A New Phone

June 22, 2020

After six years of good service, my phone died.  Everything linked up beautifully, even my car, but I had to get a new case.  I found one I liked with an extra fold for cards and cash.  It’s very nice, but too much to carry around in my pocket all day.  I needed something smaller.  I found some left-over fabric that I had quilted about ten years ago.  There were two pieces that I trimmed and sewed together.

I’m not a brown person, but it’s soft and slippery and on the inside.  The kitty fabric is sparkly.

Next, I turned down and sewed the hems in place.

I sewed Velcro to the front and flap.  I wish the hearts were on both sides.

Finished! It fits nicely in my pocket and only took an hour to make.

The Sewing Workshop

September 29, 2018

Sewing Working had several of their patterns on sale for $5.

Normally, they are between $18 and $22.  They are well written with lots of good advise and ideas.

I also bought a new pattern and some fabric for the pants.  Then I asked if they could match the colors to make the top.  I’m very happy with the result.

Physical Therapy

May 24, 2018

Going to PT three times a week is really cutting into my crafting.  I know it is good for me and I’m noticing a difference, but I can’t help think, I could have gotten so much accomplished by now.

Even though I really can’t stand it, I’ve decided to try organization.  I want a designated space for my serger.  I’ve found some great videos on serging and I am anxious to start.  The end of work table #2 would be nice, so that’s where I began.  I looked at the yarn that has been piling up.  It has gone from bad to worse since MD Sheep & Wool.  I got out some handled bags and printed up patterns.  Suddenly everything started to fall into place and I’m making some progress.

Here is little A’s quilt.  It was so much fun to make.  I switched a few things and added some birds and planes and elephant family to help to make it personal.  And the sun too.

Not Getting Things Accomplished

April 28, 2018

Lately, I’ve been trying to do everything without getting any sense of accomplishment.  Having physical therapy three times a week does not help.  At least this place is much nicer than the last one.  The walls are a soft taupe, not a hard bright yellow.  The place is well-lit without being bright.  There are windows.  It’s not noisy.  There is a television, but it’s not laud.  Compared to the clapping, stomping and singing at the other place, it’s down right quiet.  I still don’t see the joy of daytime TV.

I tried to install my old, old embroidery software.  I finally gave up after a couple of hours and removed everything. What can I say?  It was handy.  The better one was in the closet under a bunch of stuff.  I shouldn’t be so lazy.  So now I have to install again and input my personal information.  Ugh!

I’ve been watching serger tutorials and have cut out a knit dress.  I am anxious to start, but I have to complete the quilt label by next Thursday.  It’s hard to  be good and impossible to be orderly.

Then there is the baby sweater for little A.  The front and back are finished and I have started the sleeves.  I would like to finish that by Thursday also.

Another Reason to Knit

April 19, 2018

My brother called on my birthday.  My nephew and his wife’s baby was born the day before.  Drat!  He missed by one day.  I’m so very happy for the new parents and grandparents.  They have been waiting so long.  Now, I can make a proper label for his quilt.  And knit lots of stuff, of course.

Baby socks from leftovers.  They probably won’t stay on his feet because it is silk and bamboo yarn.

A boldly striped sweater that won’t fit until he’s two.  He will, however, be easy to find.

A don’t have much in the way of baby patterns, so I’ve been pouring through my books and magazines.  I can’t find what I have in mind, which doesn’t surprise me.  I may have to wing it, but some guidelines would be helpful.

Cold Again

April 15, 2018

Lately, I have been feeling like the world is against me.  First, it was my laptop. Then, my phone wouldn’t charge.  And now, it’s forty degrees lower than yesterday.  And what do I do?  Go out and buy a new serger.  So now, I am holding my breath.  It’s brand new and works beautifully.  Last year I bought a pretty cotton knit for a dress, so I cut it out today.  I am so glad I have pattern weights.  It makes cutting so much easier.  The serger came with a dvd and I’m actually thinking about taking a class.  I am so ready for some sewing happiness.

I made myself a pair of socks in anticipation of warm weather.  It’s silk and bamboo from Lorna’s Laces.  They feel wonderful!  Maybe I’ll make a little neck scarf with the leftover yarn.

Still Working on the Quilt

March 16, 2018

My laptop did a flip-flop. I couldn’t take just sitting there sewing the binding.  I can’t do one thing at a time.  It gets very boring very quickly.  I realize that is takes longer, but it wouldn’t be finished otherwise.  At my current rate, it should be finished by next Thursday.

I went to see my doctor yesterday.  We talked about my pain.  I told him I would prefer to stay with my current program.  At least I can sleep at night.  Otherwise, I would be on a narcotic which I do not want.  I told him about seeing another neurologist.  Hs is going to talk to the orthopedic which is what I really want.  We’ll see.
