Not Going Anywhere

December 31, 2008

It has been extremely windy all day.  I didn’t have much of a walk today.  Trying to fight the wind and walk at the same time is too much for my poor knees.  Now, it’s getting colder.  We used to go out with new year’s eve with the neighbors, but the main organizer turned out to be more than most of us could stand.  He always wanted to go to someplace fancy.  Then, he would treat the wait people like dirt.  It was very embarrassing.  He always had to show that he was better than you.  I don’t know why people have to be that way.  Most people do it occasionally, but with him it was all the time.  I feel sorry for his wife.

I am glad the year is over.  I said that I would blog every day and I did.  But, I feel that other things were neglected and I did not learn as much as I thought I would. So, I will be blogging less this coming year.  I want to spend my computer time doing other things.  If I stare at the screen for too long, I feel like I am frying part of my brain.  I was originally thinking about blogging on odd days, but maybe ten times a month is more realistic.

My next goal is to finsh my Latvian socks by Sunday so I can wear them to group.  That also means that I will also have to wind yarn before that for my next pair of socks.  I only have about an inch to do before decreasing for the toe.  Is there anything good on TV tonight?  Well, I wouldn’t mind having a look at Dick Clark.  I used to watch him on American Bandstand fifty(?) years ago.  Scary.

More Nano Stuff

December 30, 2008

Today, I subscribed to a couple of podcasts.  They were good to listen to while I was folding clothes.  I added one of my Buddy Holley CDs.  Even the picture of the album showed on the screen.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll read about DVDs.  It would be nice to have my Lucy Neatbys on it.  I am also wondering about deleting the music that came on it.  There’s nothing there that I am really interested in listening to again and they take up almost 1GB.  This thing has 8GB and I’ve got a lot of CDs.

Nano Stuff

December 28, 2008

So, I downloaded iTunes and I read a bunch of stuff.  It said it has to charge for three hours so I thought I would blog.  I looked at accessories.  I know I want to be able to play it in the car.  I like being able to put my CDs on it.  I looked at some package deals, but only a few had what I wanted.  I’ll probably make my own case for it.  It needs to have a pocket for the earpiece.  I’ll probably also make a separate case for the other stuff .  I’ll have to look through my stash.

Well, I’m Home

December 28, 2008

I had a great time, but it’s nice to be home.

I think Maude was happy with her present.  Even though the song was pretty bad this year.

I certainly liked mine.  Look how tiny it is!  Please do not enlarge this picture.  My hands look awful.

Happy Day After Christmas

December 26, 2008

There was some stuff on sale for my sewing machine that I wanted to try.  I had been reading about them in the Yahoo group.  Well, I still wasn’t satisfied after a demonstration so I bought nothing.  To make matters worse, the farmers market wasn’t open so the whole trip was a bust.

So I came back and took a bath.  I do like that big old bathtub.  I told Doug he could take it down to the other house.  He just looked at me funny.  What did I say?

Later, we went to Petsmart.  I got old cat cat chow for Elvis and anew toy and some kitty treats for Biscuit.

This computer is acting weird so I will close.

Merry Christmas

December 26, 2008

We had a nice day.  Doug got here about 8:45 and we opened gifts.  We got to Jenn’s around 9:30.  Jenn had a new waffle iron that made great waffles.  John made omelets which were also great.  Their niece and nephew came with friends.  A few more relatives came.  It was very homey.

Jenn gave me an iPod Nano in yellow.  It was totally unexpected.  It is so tiny and fits very nicely in my hand.   I can hardly wait to get home and download stuff.

Happy Birthday Daddy

December 24, 2008

I miss you.  You died too young.  You made Christmas exciting.  I still remember the trains taking up most of the living room.  I remember your smile.  I remember wrapping my entire hand around your little finger when I was little.  I loved you and I knew that you loved me.

I Made Cookies

December 23, 2008

First I made Louie’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies.  These are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted.  And I just want to say, “Thank you, Louie”.  You are remembered.

Next came chocolate cookies with white chocolate mint striped little chunks.  We didn’t know what else to do with the stupid chunks and these came into being.  We thought they were peppermint.

Free recipes are available upon request.

It was bitterly cold today, only 23 degrees and very windy when we went for our walk.  We didn’t even get to the end of the road.  Even Gus was ready to go home and curl up in his chair.
