Quilted Scarves

August 27, 2017

These are done.  I am so glad!  I have four squares left.  I thought about making covers for my tablet and phone.  That just seemed like too much.  I am so sick of these that I believe I will add them to the bottomless pit most people would call a spare bedroom.  There is a single bed in there under three feet of ‘stuff’.  We have a queen size sleeper sofa so its unnecessary.  I think there is a quilt on it, so I might dig that out one of these days.

I decided to make myself a dress.  I looked through my fabric stash and pulled out some cotton fabric with pink flamingoes on it.  Even though it’s late Summer, that is my next project.

The Throne

August 23, 2017

Here she is.  Queen Flo, aka Sheena Warrior Princess, looking down her nose at me.  I tell her she is just  common brown tabby, but she refuses to listen.  She has been this way ever since I made her own wool hand knit pad.  She knows she is special.  No other cat has ever sat on it.  She will not allow it.  (And I have the rest of the island to myself.  I didn’t think it would work so well!)

Summer Socks

August 21, 2017

These aren’t summer socks.  These are socks I knit this summer.  They are for my daughter.  She saw the yarn and her eyes popped.  Not only is this her favorite color,  it sparkles.  What’s not to love?   I still need her to try them on.  Her feet are longer than mine.  More socks will be coming.

On the sewing front,  my bedroom runners are almost finished.  I still have a few squares left.  I might make a new cover for my tablet.

They Are Not All Winners

August 19, 2017

I bought a yarn kit.  The yarn was beautiful.  I also knew the price was half as much as retail.  I made the cowl.  I tried it on and looked at myself.  It wasn’t right.  I asked a friend and my best critic, my daughter, and they agreed.

So I took it apart and made this pretty scarf instead.  It’s completely reversible.

Lacey Sweater

August 18, 2017

I could not get a decent picture of this sweater.  I took several and I don’t like any of them.  Oh! And now, I notice this doesn’t have the buttons and it isn’t blocked.  It really is a lovely sweater.  The yarn is lace weight making it perfect for cool evenings.  It felt like I was knitting it forever.  I’ve got to make something with thick yarn on big needles.  I need a little instant gratification.

New Floor

August 17, 2017

The ugly pink plush carpeting is gone and I have a beautiful new floor.  Don says it’s too slippery so I ordered a new rug.  He’s going to have to wait a few weeks.

We managed to find queen size sleeper sofa that wasn’t ugly and was comfortable to sit on.  When I saw this floor lamp, I had to buy it.

Now I am wondering if the sofa will go with rug.

My Poor Little Maggie Pi

August 15, 2017

Maggie Pi was gone for eight days.  We didn’t think we would ever see her again.  She finally showed up late at night.  Her ear had been clipped, she had lost a lot of weight and she was coughing and sneezing.  Oh, yeah.  Her tummy was shaved and stapled.  I was very happy to see her, but very upset with what had happened to her.  I also know who did it.  Currently, there is a federally funded project that is neutering feral cats and releasing them where they were found. Now, I know that this is a good thing, but can’t they tell when a cat is not feral?  I guess not.  From my reading, they were only working in city limits.  We live two miles south.  Unfortunately, one of the volunteers lives on my lane.  Why she decided to pick up my Mags is beyond my understanding.  Maggie Pi was so sick when she came home and she had lost 24 ounces, a lot for my little girl.  I had to take her to Dr. Mike the next day for shots and meds to the tune of $75.

Maggie is getting better and gaining some weight.  She spends her day in Sweetums’ lap or in the dirty clothes basket.  She will gladly tell you all the sorted details.

I was so pissed.  Whenever I see the woman I look the other way.  I still want to smack her.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

August 14, 2017

My Splendid Sampler is finally finished!  I am so sick of it.  Sweetums says it’s perfect.  Flo, aka Sheena Warrior Princess, has already christened it with a hairball.  Oh well.  Since I still have about three dozen squares, I’m making covers for the bureaus and night stands.  Too tacky?  But, really, I finally feel like blogging again.  I no longer have the constant feeling that I will never finish it.
