LA Boheme
January 20, 2008Nancy’s Soap
January 19, 2008I went up to Dover to sewing club. We made place mats. It was fun. Here’s mine. I rather like it.
I should probably make some more.
This came in the mail today. I am going to make a quilt for a relative of my husband. I had no idea what to make. They live in Dallas, Texas. I saw this in one of my magazines and knew this was it. Sometimes, you have to sit back and wait for things to come to you. Then, one day, they just pop right into your lap. I swear this works. Sometimes it takes longer than others and you have to work like your crazed to finish on time, but it works.
Cancun
January 17, 2008- Yarn, needles, etc., for at least three projects.
- Sewing machine, fabric, etc.
- Three or four books, not paperbacks.
- Gus so I would have a reason to go for a walk.
- Elvis because he like sun and warmth and he would kill me if I didn’t.
- Maude because I would miss her too much.
- Zippo because he would cry his eyeballs out.
- Myuushi because I couldn’t leave him all alone even if he says he wouldn’t mind.
- Doug to feed the animals.
First we had rain, then snow and now it’s raining again.
Can you see the ducks on the other side in the water?
Maude was SOOO bored!
My table runner is almost done. I am not happy with it. I’ll probably feel better when its done. I really should be working on tree. Maybe later. I went shopping on line for yarn. I know I need more yarn like a hole in my head, but my Noro Kureyon gloves can’t take another repair. I found Kureyon Sock Yarn in the same colorway. I bought two for gloves and socks. The store also had free shipping with no minimum purchase. I was happy.
Yesterday’s Comments
January 17, 2008
This morning.
This evening. Myuushi is always helpful.
When I have to pick up new stitches between the fingers, I pick up twice as many, the knit 2tog. It helps to close the gap. I also do this on heels when making socks.
Here’s my purple and black sweater with my new hat and gloves. Now, I have to make a scarf.
Tomato Soup
January 16, 2008It is really cold today (mid 30’s). I almost turned back on our morning walk, but the wind stopped and I went on. I did look good though. My new hat and gloves looks great with my purple and black sweater. I should make that sweater again. I should also take a picture of it.
Look at the way the little finger patterned. I could not have done that intentionally if I tried.
Pussycat 2
January 14, 2008This is what I discovered. Paula Prentiss and Ursula Andress are still around and “semi-retired”. Does that mean they work when want to or when they can find something? They are around 70. That sounds retired to me. After several attempts, Capucine managed to kill herself in 1990. Romy Schneider died of cardiac arrest when she was 47. I am assuming that you know Peter Sellers died several years ago. Did you see Dr. Strangelove? I first saw it in a wonderful old theatre in Omaha, Nebraska so that must have been in the Winter of 63-64. There was another movie playing with it, but I don’t remember what it was. Peter O’Toole is still making movies, several of which I thoroughly enjoyed, but it is really hard to find those beautiful blue eyes in all those wrinkles. Woody Allen is still a genius, but his lifestyle makes me sick.
I can’t make up my mind about this sweater. Knitting the sleeve on circular needles has been really slow. And I’m not sure that I like this pattern. There are at least two others that I could make with this yarn. Even if I stay with this one, I know I don’t want to finish this sleeve in the round. I really don’t want to unknit it, steam it, dry it and rewind it, but I guess I will have to. Otherwise, it will never get done.
The glove is coming along nicely. Look at those increases for the thumb. No holes.
What’s New, Pussycat
January 13, 2008I am a bit pookie today. My cold is still there and i am not happy. I know I don’t have bronchitis. Been there. Done that. I just wish it would go away. We rode down to the supermarket in Laurel. They carry the tuna the cats like and we got some treats for Elvis. How do you spend $100 when you feel like a zombie? I bought some bananas and grapes. I almost bought oranges before realizing that I still had some.
Maude took my advice and went to bed at 8PM last night. Zippo had to find other accommodations.
He was still mad this morning.
Maude is P O’ed
January 12, 2008
For the past two nights, Zippo has gone to bed early in Maude’s favorite sleeping place–the dirty clothes basket. What could be better than Mom’s dirty underwear? She looked so sad. I told her she should go to bed sooner, but she said Zippo had ruined the flavor. When I went to bed, I laid my clothes on the settee. She curled up on them and went to sleep.
The hat is finished. I am glad that I decided to add another row of squares. It made the hole bigger, but I just did a few more rows of decreases before starting the I-cord. I like it much more than the last one. Speaking of which, I started the gloves last night.
I have already decided to take this out and make a swatch on size 2’s. This rib is a tad too loose for me. I worked on the back of the table runner, but I was getting frustrated. I couldn’t think straight. Or was it that I could think straight when I needed to think diagonally? Zippo was no help.

Too Tired
January 12, 2008Time to Strangle the Cat
January 11, 2008The road to Dover was busy for a change and it took me longer. Between the crazies and the clueless, it’s a wonder I ever made it. I had hoped to do a little shopping before class, but it had all ready started when I got there. It was a good class and I learned some new things. I will be able to do a lot more than with my old software. I thought that I would sell it. I have been watching the prices on E-Bay.
I have to uninstall the old and install the new. Maybe, I will do it tomorrow. I want to finish the hat tonight and I want to embroider the Maine Coon that I didn’t get around to today. I need to do some house work tomorrow. We are going out with the neighbors and I don’t want them to think we are complete slobs. I have got to wash my hair, too. So I don’t think I’ll have new software until Saturday. I’ll be lucky if I have time to blog tomorrow.
