It’s Over

November 3, 2008

Very windy and cooler today, so the sweater goes back on and I’m checking on my hats and gloves.  We walked over to the goose pond and scared most of the geese.  The rest just walked away from us.  It was easy to tell the Delmarva Geese from the Canada Geese.

I went to knitting group this afternoon and then went out to supper with two of them.  When we meet in two weeks, it will be in Snow Hill.  I never been there so I am driving to Delmar where Leslie lives.  Then we are driving to Charlotte’s house since Leslie ‘kind of’ knows where she lives.  Then we are driving to Snow Hill because Charlotte knows where it is.  Did that make sense?  Is it worth it?  I don’t know.  It’s something to do.

It is really starting to look like Autumn.  And going back to standard time isn’t helping my mood any.

Indian Summer

November 2, 2008

Sunny and 73 degrees today so I got my knitting and a chair and went outside.

I finished the first sock.  It fits very well.  These are definitely keepers.

Here’s another keeper.  See how nicely he’s folding my fabric?  I washed and hung it out this morning and he brought it in for me.

Maude enjoyed the day, too.   However, she was not happy when I took that tick off her.

And this is the last rose of summer.

Even Elvis enjoyed the sun.

Sadness from Pheonix

October 29, 2008

I received an e-mail from my girlfriend a little while ago.  Her husband was laid off.  He might be getting another job, but they would have to move to North Dakota.  She said she was scared, but she still ended by saying that she would let me know if the people there have fur.  You’ve got to love her.

The downward slopping economy hasn’t effected us much so I’ve been a little blind.  My husband and I never had to worry about losing our jobs.  I can’t talk about this anymore.

It rained all night and most of the day so we went to Walmart.  I needed a crochet hook size D.  I should have one, but I can’t find it.  They don’t carry the needles I need.  Maybe I can find them at Stitches.  I also bought a new pair of jeans.  Suddenly, all of mine are pretty ratty.  Please note, they are a size smaller.  Then, we headed over to the food.  When I think about it, we have always been a little frugal like buying extra of what’s on sale.  The house we lived in was less than what we could afford, but we paid for four years of college for our son.

Darn, I keep getting moody.  Here’s a cat picture.  I’m going to knit.  And there better be something good on TV!

Guess What I Learned

October 24, 2008

Canadians have fur.  I got it straight from the horses mouth.  So that’s why they can live up there.  Sh.  Don’t tell anyone.  I wonder.  Do Alaskans have fur?  And what about people in places like North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming?  Do they lick there fur dry?  The mind boggles.  Maybe they are changelings.  Was Anne McCaffrey right?

Got Oil?

October 21, 2008

Well.  We do.  The truck was supposed to come this morning, but didn’t show up until 1:30PM.  I went dog walking this morning by myself.  Bummer!  I used to walk all the time alone, but since the hip replacement, Doug has been walking with me.  At first, I couldn’t stand it, but then I started to like it.  I don’t feel as much like he is watching over me as I used to.

So, the furnace cleaning guy doesn’t show up until 5:30PM.  Supper was almost ready.  I didn’t think he was coming.  He said they got a lot of no heat calls.  We haven’t even turned ours on yet.  It’s not that cold.  He was down there for about two hours.  He has to crawl through a hole in the wall to get to the furnace which is partly in sand.  I assume that’s the way those things are done here.  It didn’t seem to faze him.

One of my new handbags came today, but I forgot to take a picture.  Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow.  The Einstein coat is coming along.  I may have it finished in a few days.  I should say I may have the bottom edge done.  I really think that I need to do something about the collar.  This coat is so boring.  I have got to make it right.  It would be so wasteful not to wear it.

I just hope that I don’t run out of yarn.  If I do, I’m screwed.  Speaking of stupid, I joined another sock club today.  Why do I do these things?

Another Quickie

October 17, 2008

Yesterday I wanted to turn on the air conditioning.  Today, I want to put on the heat.

We’re hanging with the neighbors tonight, so this is all there is for today.

It Was Doug’s Birthday

October 17, 2008

Maybe that’s why it was so hot.  I think it got up to 85 today.  I’m not used to sweating in October.  It is supposed to be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow.  Everybody is going to be so sick.

My son was off from work today so he came for a visit and brought two gallons of Weber’s cider.  I finally thought of a good birthday present this evening.  Doug is so hard to buy for.  When I find what I want, I’ll post a picture.

Thawing frozen bananas is gross.  Peeling them and mashing them is even worse.  If anyone ever saw me making this cake, they would never eat it.  I don’t tell what’s in it.  They wouldn’t believe me.  They just say that it is the best chocolate cake they have ever eaten.

The mail person brought me a package today.  Now I have to figure out how much I still need.

I think I want another green.

Good night.

Ocean City

October 15, 2008

I had an IRA that matured.  I had gotten it at a little bank in Reisterstown.  As happens, it was bought by a bigger bank.  The closest branch was in Ocean City so we rode down there today.  I said I had to take some pictures while we were here.  It was a perfect day.  It was sunny and in the upper 70s.  Since it was out of season, there was no parking problem.  We just pulled up to the end of a side street and walked down.

A sitting area!

There were lots of gulls.

People were sunbathing!

Even Doug enjoyed himself!

New Header

October 13, 2008

I’m not sure whether I like this one.  It seems too busy to me.  Maybe I’ll change it to this.

Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, we sometimes have mornings like this.  I like the fog.  Everything seems different.  When I was young, we used to go camping in Maine.  I liked to walk along the rocks and watch the waves.  I would pretend that I was the only person on the island.  I’d like to go again sometime, maybe with Nancy.  Doug doesn’t like to travel.  It’s hard enough dragging him to the ocean in Delaware.

He’s Still Got It

October 8, 2008

Elvis is so cool.  When the weather is pleasant, he  goes for a walk.  He likes to look around and he’ll check anything that looks different.

Doug was helping Paul get his boat out of the water for winter.  Paul got out the trailer and they hooked it up and took off.  Linda saw Elvis in her bushes so she was keeping an eye on the trailer.  She didn’t want Elvis to get hurt.  She should have kept an eye on Elvis.  The front door was open and Elvis decided to have a look around in there.  Later, Linda thought she saw a big rat in the hall and screamed.  Elvis looked at her like she was crazy, but he decided to leave anyway.  Her dog was doing a happy dance because he really likes my cats.  Elvis, on the other hand, knows that all dogs are idiots and their feet have no attachment to their pea sized brains.  He went out through the door to the garage and came home to his deck.
