Barf! We just wanted a light meal and stopped here while we were out. Big mistake. While we were waiting for our food, the cook came out and said the cheese wasn’t done and he put it back in. The cheese wasn’t done? Huh? They couldn’t even get our order right, but it was similar so we accepted it. When it was brought out, he asked if we wanted plates. I was getting scared. I picked up my knife and fork and tried to cut it. I asked for real flatware, not this plastic stuff. They don’t have any. The bottom was black. I could only scrape the topping off with the stupid plastic knife. Well, I wasn’t that hungry anyway. I complained. They didn’t even apologise. What?

Cosi Restaurant? on Reisterstown Road
May 4, 2009I Washed My Socks
April 26, 2009There will be no restaurant critique this week. We didn’t go out last night and our neighbor was too tired to on Thursday. We will probably only go out every other week during the warmer months.
It was unusually hot today so I decided it was time for the annual washing of my socks. A couple didn’t get washed. I need to repair them which I hate to do so it’ll be a while. Maybe they’ll get washed next year. I’m not rushing into these repairs. I deliberately hung them on the clothesline. It seemed the perfect opportunity for a photo op.

Olive was pretty hot today. She wanted to go out, but it was too hot for her. She spent the day sleeping in her bowl on the dining table under the ceiling fan. She’s still a baby.
Once the sun went down, she went out. She’s been running in and out. We probably won’t be able to get her in until midnight.
Thursday, I decided to go shopping in Rehoboth and Lewes. I hadn’t been over that way for a while and I didn’t dare go over the weekend. I rode down to the beach at Lewes. It’s always so pretty there, but it was really windy making it hard for me to walk. At least I remembered my camera this time.

Lewes Cape May Ferry
It should make a fun pair of socks. I got some other stuff for a purse. It Was That Kind of Day

First Day Out
March 9, 2009With the beautiful weather, we felt it was time for Olive to venture outside. We left the screens open at little cat width and before long she tried the great outdoors. She was very nervous and never left the deck. She went in and out several times, but only for a few minutes each time.
Zip, on the other hand, had a great time. It was so very nice not to have snow squishing between his toes with every step.
He checked the neighbor’s shed. He can’t resist an open door.

Remember last Tuesday?
Check it out now.
One Sock is Finished
February 28, 2009
It fits perfectly. The pattern was easy to follow and went fast. I’ve all ready got about two inches on the second. It’s going to be a little different. I’ll show you later. I’m not certain that I like it yet.
It was actually warm enough yesterday to sit outside for a while. Today, it must be about 20 degrees cooler and the forecast is calling for snow on Monday. Just as long as it doesn’t snow tomorrow. I’ve got knitting group and I don’t want to miss it. I don’t do snow.
When I was working, the big boss tried to tell me how he was on his way to work one morning and how beautiful the snowflakes were. I knew what he was really saying. “I don’t want you staying home whenever there’s a little snow”. I rolled my eyes at him, got up and left his office. He was not happy with me anyway. When he tried to make me work mandatory overtime , I got a note from my doctor. Several months later, they said they had “lost” it and needed a new one. I said, “tell me exactly what it needs to say and I’ll have my doctor fax you a new one.” Boy, I certainly don’t miss all that bull crap.
I Made Muffins
February 26, 2009
I had a couple of very ripe bananas that I wasn’t going to eat so I got out two more from the freezer. There were some cashews whose age I did not know and I had about four bags of bittersweet chocolate. I was trying for a dozen, but I think the chocolate chips took up too much room. This is definitely the best recipe I have come with so I will write it up and put it on a page.
I was loading some upgrades to my embroidery software to my laptop, but they took a long time and playing with food seemed like a good idea. Besides, Frank was here all day installing the molding and I didn’t have a decent place to sit and knit.
I
am about to decrease for the toe which I hope to finish tonight. Then, I can start the second. Here’s yesterday’s progress. This isn’t yesterday’s. This is two days ago. I thought I had taken a picture, but I couldn’t find it. Even though I don’t have big feet, I had to add about an inch. I made a design similar to the ankle trim.
Coming to You
February 21, 2009The router set up went pretty well. Doug put the disk in the wrong computer. I said I think it should go in the other, but he had to try everything else first. Argh! It is so nice to be able to use it whenever I want. I get tired of asking and waiting.
I loaded a few pictures so let’s see how long that takes. So far, this one is faster, but it may just be because there is not much on it.
Downloading this picture took about the same amount of time. I’m just glad it worked. I took this picture this morning. It made nice wallpaper.

The second picture loaded more quickly. Maybe it’s getting the idea.

Here’s my latest sock club from Red Bird. The pattern is quick and easy and I’m enjoying making them. I finished the ankle and the heel flap this evening. I should have more pictures tomorrow.
Laptop
February 18, 2009So I bit the bullet and bought one. I have to go buy a router. I hope Walmart has one. Otherwise, I’ll have to drive down to Salisbury and pay their 6% sales tax which I hate having to do. I have been wanting to inventory my stash and this will make it so much easier. As usual, I went with a refurbished one from Dell. I knew what I needed and what Iwanted. I had looked at several at various stores and was pleasantly surprised with what I could get through Dell. Also, the new ones had Vista and this one has XP Pro. My mini mouse on my sewing machine works very nicely on it, but I will probably get another one anyway. I guess I had better add a picture so here you go.

Interweave Knits
February 13, 2009
Here it is, folks. This is the last IK that I will ever receive. Look at that cover sweater! Could they have picked anything worse? It looks like something my mother would have worn to putter around the house. Not my Grandmother though, who had better taste. There were two things in this issue that I might consider making, but there are no real garments. For over a year now, this magazine has been a big waste of my money. I think the only reason I kept getting it was because I have gotten it since it’s inception. For years, I enjoyed it. The designs and articles were great. There were always several things I wanted to make. And now, Iam ashamed to say I still get it. The patterns are boring, boring, boring. There is nothing of any interest anymore. It is very sad that such a good magazine could sink to such mediocrity.

I am very pleased with my bag. I have gone as far as I can because I ran out of the teal. It’s my own fault. I didn’t decide to knit it in the round until after I got the yarn. I’ll order another skein next week. There are a few other things that I need anyway. I also need to look through my stash for some pretty fabric to use for lining and pockets.

It is amazing how much bigger the kitchen and family room feels with this one foot of wall removed. We are going to look at paint this weekend.
Don’t Expect Much
February 10, 2009
Here is today’s progress on the bag. I don’t know why I bothered. I also took pictures of some things to send to my girlfriend, but now I don’t think I will have the time. Frank is coming tomorrow to start tearing out the ugly old panelling in the family room and part of a wall in the kitchen. I’ve got to get as much of my crap as possible out of there tonight.
