Too Tired

January 12, 2008
I had a very busy day. When I did have time to sit down at the computer, it was acting weird so I’m going to bed.

Time to Strangle the Cat

January 11, 2008
It started to rain about an hour ago and Zippo is getting into a lot of trouble. He came in mad as a hornet and is taking it out on Maude and Gus and everything else he comes in contact with. His evening is ruined and it’s everybody else’s fault.

The road to Dover was busy for a change and it took me longer. Between the crazies and the clueless, it’s a wonder I ever made it. I had hoped to do a little shopping before class, but it had all ready started when I got there. It was a good class and I learned some new things. I will be able to do a lot more than with my old software. I thought that I would sell it. I have been watching the prices on E-Bay.

I have to uninstall the old and install the new. Maybe, I will do it tomorrow. I want to finish the hat tonight and I want to embroider the Maine Coon that I didn’t get around to today. I need to do some house work tomorrow. We are going out with the neighbors and I don’t want them to think we are complete slobs. I have got to wash my hair, too. So I don’t think I’ll have new software until Saturday. I’ll be lucky if I have time to blog tomorrow.

It Was So Warm Today

January 10, 2008
I only wore a corduroy top and jeans when we walked the dog. It was so windy, there were white caps on the river and it didn’t matter. We had doors and windows open.

Gus says, “Hi”.

Maude still prefers to nap under the tree. Yes, my tree is still up. The only bad thing was that since it is supposed to get cold and rainy, Doug took down the lights on the deck. He also climbed on the roof and got leaves off. I, however was in embroidery mode. I made this for the back of the table runner.

Then, I decided to make a few more.

Doug used to call Jenn Big Foot.

I just liked the goose. I also found a Maine Coon cat that I hope to make tomorrow. I have to change the colors to look more like Jenn’s.

Good Friends, Happy Thoughts

January 9, 2008

Here are two pictures of some real friends. I believe that I could tell them anything.

And there are others, but I never remember to take my camera with me.

Here are some of my Christmas presents.

Kevin, my grandson, gave me this.

These are from the two prior years.

Don’t tell me you’re not smiling.

We’ve got to have some knitting. These are from Doug.

She is so cool. I’ve been to a few of her classes.

I finished the front of the table runner. I have to make a label and go downstairs to get the batting. Never buy ten yards at once. There is no place to put it.

And we have to have a cat picture.

Happy thoughts to you.

Relationships

January 8, 2008
Christine has caused me to think about people I have known over the years. There was the girl I spent so much time with in high school. She contacted me when I moved back home. She came over. We had a nice time, but we were both very different people. After a while, she seemed eager to leave and I was glad to see her go. Over the years, I mentioned her to other people from school, but no one had had any contact with her. A few years ago, I got a list of classmates that the alumni was trying to reach and she was on the list. I even tried calling her brother. I left a message, but he never called back. It was kind of creepy.Sometimes, I think that I don’t trust women. I had one that stole from me then acted like I stole from her. She still talks about it. Since we both are involved in knitting, we know some of the same people. Some believe her. Others do not. I don’t say much of anything. Why bother. It makes me sad that she is like this. I thought she was my friend when she was really stealing my designs. That’s one of the reasons why I offer free patterns. I don’t need the money. It’s not that important to me. A beret pattern will be coming soon. My girlfriend wants one.

It really surprises me when I get an invitation. I love it when I get an email saying “**** has added you as a friend”. It’s like the cheerleader asking the wallflower. So, I want to say “Thank you” to everyone.

Not a Good day

January 7, 2008
I managed to kill my newest tire this afternoon. Why couldn’t it have been the old one? And of course I was 20 miles from home. Sweetums came and changed it for me. I am so glad it wasn’t raining. Otherwise, it would still be sitting in the parking lot. He did agree with me that it was not a very book store and not worth going back. I did buy a ADC map and a chai tea there. Dusty used book stores are more to our liking.

Doug installed the fans yesterday. They look good. Don’t you think?

I got some more done on my hat. It should be done in a couple of days. I like the way that the colors change. I think I will do another row after this one before the final row.

New Stuff

January 6, 2008
I had a nice hot shower and washed my hair this afternoon. Then I stepped out into a cosy warm bathroom. It felt so good. Usually I have to steel myself for the cold air, but the new heat lamps are great. They really do the job. That little bathroom is at the end of the house and never gets warm. There is now a heat, vent, fan thingy in the big bathroom. I don’t like that shower, the bathtub sucks and there are no windows so I will stick to my little bathroom. We had some switches redirected so we could have ceiling fans with lights put in our bedroom and family room. Two days with strange men in the house is two days too many.

Almost done.

There was still a little ice this morning and I was really cold when I went out with the dog.

I’m just not a winter person. It takes forever to get dressed and my feet are always cold.

Ice onthe Creek

January 5, 2008

I was surprised to see all this ice when I got up.

It wasn’t windy and I was feeling better so I went on a walk with the dog.  We walked down the main road and then cut through the woods to the river.  The water was really moving.  Gus likes to run along the beach when the tide is down, but today he wasn’t at all interested.  We were out for an hour.  It wasn’t bad, but I was glad to get home and get warm.  There’s nothing like a good cup of coffee on a cold day.

I started sewing on the table runner.  Zippo helped.  He had a lot to say.

Look.  I made a snowflake.  I programed it into my machine and put several on the top.  I really like this machine.

I got some knitting done.

After I finish this hat, I am going to make gloves to go with the hat I made last week.

I’m pretty tired.  I should go to bed.

Bald Eagles

January 3, 2008

I had quite a treat this morning. I was eating breakfast looking out at the creek when I spotted something white moving by the water’s edge. I got the binoculars and it was a third year Bald Eagle with a fish. Soon, another third year came and finally a full adult. It was quite a sight. Each wanted a piece. Soon, they were airborne and even sat in my trees for a while. I was so excited! All this right outside my window! I entirely forgot about taking pictures. Sorry.

They Came

January 3, 2008

The electrician actually showed up around 745AM. They worked until 3PM and they are supposed to come back tomorrow. I’ve got to put my Nativity and creche away tonight because they will be working right there. The Nativity set is so beautiful and I only recently found a suitable creche for it.

I started another entrelac hat last night to match my new gloves. With size 4 circular needle, I cast on 120 stitches. I did three row stripes for about 1 1/2 inches. The squares are going to remain eight stitches and I will have to knit about two more row of sloping squares. We’ll see what happens. Sometimes, what I see in my head doesn’t come to fruition.

Here’s a little incentive. All you have to do is comment and a one of a kind pair of gloves could be yours.
