Now It’s Saturday

November 9, 2008

It was the first day of Beth Brown-Reinsel’s Danish sweater class.  I had a hard time getting used to knitting with two different weight yarns at the same time.  I would like to be further along.  I had hoped to get more done this evening, but I was too tired.  The computer seems to be working better, but I am really sleepy.  See you tomorrow.

Today is Friday

November 8, 2008

No. Really.  It is.  By the time I got home from Stitches, my son had gone off with his friends.  He forgot to turn

off the password and he didn’t get back until after I was asleep.  I hate this computer.  I had a fun class with

Vivian Hoxbro today on Shadow Knitting.  She said she is not going to teach it anymore and won’t be back to

the United States for a year.  She wants to spend more time at home with her grandchildren.  I can under stand

that.  She’s my age.  That’s about all I want to do on this @#$%$# computer.  More later.

Still Rainning

November 6, 2008

And, now, we are getting a lot of wind.  We were able to get out for a short walk this morning.  I spent most of the day getting ready for Stitches.  And Doug washed my purple jeans for me.  I have some clothes there, but I wanted to take some of my nice sweaters and socks if it’s cold enough.  I also made sure I had everything I needed for class and , of course, personal knitting.  I’ll be taking the subway everyday so maybe I will get the other sock finished.  I hope to leave fairly early tomorrow.  I think I will drive to Reisterstown and unload the van first, then drive to the subway station and ride downtown.  I’ll pick up my badge and go to the market before returning.  I don’t think leaving my van in a downtown parking lot with all that stuff including a $300 camera and $1000 sewing machine was a good idea.  I wouldn’t want anything to happen to my sweaters either.

This is as far as I have gotten so far.  I worked on my Einstein this evening.  I believe I’ve finished the embellishing.  It looks pretty good.  I took off the collar and started another.  If I like this one, I may put on cuffs.

It’s Over

November 3, 2008

Very windy and cooler today, so the sweater goes back on and I’m checking on my hats and gloves.  We walked over to the goose pond and scared most of the geese.  The rest just walked away from us.  It was easy to tell the Delmarva Geese from the Canada Geese.

I went to knitting group this afternoon and then went out to supper with two of them.  When we meet in two weeks, it will be in Snow Hill.  I never been there so I am driving to Delmar where Leslie lives.  Then we are driving to Charlotte’s house since Leslie ‘kind of’ knows where she lives.  Then we are driving to Snow Hill because Charlotte knows where it is.  Did that make sense?  Is it worth it?  I don’t know.  It’s something to do.

It is really starting to look like Autumn.  And going back to standard time isn’t helping my mood any.

Indian Summer

November 2, 2008

Sunny and 73 degrees today so I got my knitting and a chair and went outside.

I finished the first sock.  It fits very well.  These are definitely keepers.

Here’s another keeper.  See how nicely he’s folding my fabric?  I washed and hung it out this morning and he brought it in for me.

Maude enjoyed the day, too.   However, she was not happy when I took that tick off her.

And this is the last rose of summer.

Even Elvis enjoyed the sun.

Politics

October 31, 2008

It’s not spoken here.  I am so sick of the back stabbing and mud slinging.  I do vote, except for that time I was in the throes of a really violent period.  You know what I mean.  You sit in the bathtub and cry for two days.  Anyway, I find myself voting against the last several years, rather than for.

This just came from Red Bird in Toronto. They have great patterns.  I had totally forgotten about them.  I used to get stuff from them years ago.  They are in my favorites on my old computer at my old house.  I wonder if my sons has gotten the designs off the old one for me yet?

This club comes four times a year also so that makes eight pairs a year.  If I keep both clubs, I will probably have another sock giveaway.  I assume that you have noticed that it is two colors?  And didn’t I say I wanted to make something with just one color?   Well, I just can’t help myself.  Look at that pattern! Look at those colors!  Need I say more?

The idiot on the point is trying to save his land and has hired some hoodles to do it.  The job they are doing is so poor, it’s laughable.  That bulkhead is older than the one we had replaced before we even moved here.  It needs to be removed and a whole new one put in its place.  All they are doing is driving some posts into the muck.  Water has been seeping up under it for years.  You can’t even walk around there after  a rain.  But, what do I know?

Why It’s so Hard to Finish a Sweater

Making Flowers

October 29, 2008

This is what I have so far.  I’ll make more before I decide.  I like to have plenty to work with and I want to make a bow.  I haven’t decided on a flowerpot yet.  And I still need to work on the back.  I’m not happy with it.  I’m not happy today anyway.  I think I need to kick someone.

I finished all the stupid little wavy pieces this morning.   And I didn’t slice myself once.  Of course, a little blood would add to the stressed look of the fabric.  I still have stars to make, but they are straight lines.  Maybe I’ll sew tomorrow.

Here they are.  The last of this year’s gnats, dying blissfully in apple cider vinegar and dish detergent.  October is gnat month.  I never had this problem where I used to live.  They start showing up in October and I put out they’re treat.

Sadness from Pheonix

October 29, 2008

I received an e-mail from my girlfriend a little while ago.  Her husband was laid off.  He might be getting another job, but they would have to move to North Dakota.  She said she was scared, but she still ended by saying that she would let me know if the people there have fur.  You’ve got to love her.

The downward slopping economy hasn’t effected us much so I’ve been a little blind.  My husband and I never had to worry about losing our jobs.  I can’t talk about this anymore.

It rained all night and most of the day so we went to Walmart.  I needed a crochet hook size D.  I should have one, but I can’t find it.  They don’t carry the needles I need.  Maybe I can find them at Stitches.  I also bought a new pair of jeans.  Suddenly, all of mine are pretty ratty.  Please note, they are a size smaller.  Then, we headed over to the food.  When I think about it, we have always been a little frugal like buying extra of what’s on sale.  The house we lived in was less than what we could afford, but we paid for four years of college for our son.

Darn, I keep getting moody.  Here’s a cat picture.  I’m going to knit.  And there better be something good on TV!

Idiot Dog, Idiot Owner

October 27, 2008

We were heading out to the horse farm this morning, when we saw this woman with a little dog beside the road.  She had no leash on the dog.  When it saw Gus, it took off after him.  She barely grabbed it in time and she started laughing, saying something about how her dog would tear Gus to shreds if he got to him.  She thought she was being funny.  We were thinking how that dog will probably end up on someones front bumper or trampled by a horse.  They were both pretty brainless.

It was too cold to sit outside so I knit a little inside.  I’ll probably make some more flowers later.  Last night, I made leaves and stems.  I need to dig through my stash for more leftover yarn.

I got some fabric cut. I am making a little quilt that looks like a flag in the wind.  The directions are stupid and I’ve all ready found a better way to do it.
