Snow Day

January 25, 2008

It started snowing when we were out walking this morning. I turned back, but Doug kept going. By the time he got back, everything was white. I’m a big chicken when it comes to snow. I’ve fallen too many times.

Maude, on the other hand, believes in falling.

Big, brave Zippo shows off.

They were in before too long.

Cat toast.

Cat help.

I finished my hat last night and wore it today. It now covers my ears nicely.

And I finished the table runner this afternoon.

Thanks, christine, for the help on the award. Maybe, I’ll get to them tomorrow.

Cancun

January 17, 2008
Suzette is off to Cancun today for a month of warmth and sun. I meant to ask her if she would take Elvis with her, but I forgot. Sorry, El. She’s done this every year since she retired. I don’t know if I could do that. I would have to take so much stuff.

  1. Yarn, needles, etc., for at least three projects.
  2. Sewing machine, fabric, etc.
  3. Three or four books, not paperbacks.
  4. Gus so I would have a reason to go for a walk.
  5. Elvis because he like sun and warmth and he would kill me if I didn’t.
  6. Maude because I would miss her too much.
  7. Zippo because he would cry his eyeballs out.
  8. Myuushi because I couldn’t leave him all alone even if he says he wouldn’t mind.
  9. Doug to feed the animals.

First we had rain, then snow and now it’s raining again.

Can you see the ducks on the other side in the water?

Maude was SOOO bored!

My table runner is almost done. I am not happy with it. I’ll probably feel better when its done. I really should be working on tree. Maybe later. I went shopping on line for yarn. I know I need more yarn like a hole in my head, but my Noro Kureyon gloves can’t take another repair. I found Kureyon Sock Yarn in the same colorway. I bought two for gloves and socks. The store also had free shipping with no minimum purchase. I was happy.

Myuushi’s Turn

December 8, 2007

Myuushi has been a little snotty lately and he has been sneezing so I decided it was his turn to see the vet. Our little road was still snow covered and icy where the sun hadn’t reached. Main roads were OK, but my vet is also on a little road. We didn’t have to wait very long this time, probably due to the weather. That’s why I decided to go today. He doesn’t take appointments. You have to sign in between 10 and 12 and wait your turn. Some people can’t stand this, but when you have a cat that knows every hidey hole in and around your house, it’s good. The Myuush was very overdue for his distemper for this reason. At least he always got his rabies shots. They held clinics at various schools around the county every Spring. He got two shots and liquid to take. It was 2PM yesterday before he got his first dose. I have learned that it is better to just wait until he shows up. When we moved, it took my husband and son two hours to find him. For a short, fat, football shaped cat, he can certainly be elusive.

I have almost finished my daughter’s tunic. A couple of good movies should do it. I started on a FSL(free standing lace) Santa, sleigh, and nine reindeer. Rudolf will be there, too. I hope I can get it done by Christmas, but it may make me crazy before then. After the embroidery, there are pipe cleaners, wire, glue and a sparkly red nose to deal with. Wish me luck. I have some other sewing to do, but I hate to jump back and forth on projects. I’d never get anything done.

Snow? In Delaware?

December 5, 2007

I had to take Sweetums to Lewes this morning to have a polyp removed. Poor baby. I am so good to him. I even got up a 5AM to mix his last cocktail for him. Then I went back to bed until 8AM. Well, you know. I had to drive. I needed my rest. When we got there, I sat with him for about 15 minutes. I didn’t want to eat in front of him so I rode over to Rehobeth Beach and had breakfast. After doing a little shopping, he called and said he was done. Snow was starting to fall and I really wanted to get home. We live about 45 minutes away. This is only the second time that it has snowed since we moved to Delaware. I know how to handle my vehicle, but I don’t trust others.

The cats had a great time. Little Maude was out the longest. The Myuush went out, walked around and came back in. Zippo spent a long time cleaning his fur. I asked him if he would like a haircut, but he said no, thank you very much.

I finally finished my Equilateral Vest. The yarn I used was heavier and I had to change needle size. Thanks to Lucy Neatby’s instructions, I had no trouble with gauge and the size was right on. I really like her patterns.
