The Network was so Slow……

May 28, 2011

It was making me crazy.  It was worse than dial up.  Sometimes this happens.  But not for a day.  Sweetums went around checking connections and unplugging and replugging because “THEY” always tell you to do that first.  So we finally had to give up and call.  Of course, they had to ask more dumb questions.  And, finally, we are up and running again.  I had important stuff to do yesterday, like pay bills and order crap.  I wasn’t exactly in the mood to blog after that.  And, well, it was nice outside.

I finished the Scrolls Socks on Tuesday.  The wrong side looks as good as the right side.

Here’s my first from Rocking Sock Club.  They are a lot of fun to knit, but too thick to wear any time soon.  I hadn’t made this type of heel for a while.  It was a little slow at first.  My third kit should be coming any day now, so I should get back to it.

Spam on One of my Patterns

May 22, 2011

I was getting over 100 dirty comments a day on my entrelac scarf pattern.  I was able to find out how it happened, but I couldn’t stop it.   I had to permanently delete the comment so it shouldn’t happen again.  I also had to remove the pattern.  If anyone would like to have it, email me at www.frivolousfluffy@gmail.com and I will send it out to you.

My son was here on Wednesday and Thursday.  We needed new phones.  His was falling apart and mine had keys that were getting stuck.  He thought about a smart phone, but decided that is was more of a toy than anything.  We bought an LG for one dollar.  The last LGs lasted for five years so it seemed a good deal.  He also needed new tennis shoes so we went to the outlets.  He didn’t find anything.  I walked over to Fossil and found a new handbag.  I hate that place.

And, of course, I couldn’t pass this up.

It’s been a little too warm to work on my sweater.  I did manage to make pockets.  I am not certain that I like them yet.  Maybe if I let them lay around for a few days they will look better.

They’re a little weird.  Hopefully, they will look better on.

I Cleaned My Worktable!

May 21, 2011

It was so easy.  It didn’t take any time at all.  I just spilled coffee on everything.  And the best part is….. I found the password that I have been searching for everywhere.

And what else?

I’ve been enjoying Spring.

And so have the kids.

Girls Day Out

May 13, 2011

I hope I don’t get beaten up for this, but here’s some pictures from last Friday.

Classes with Charlene Schurch

May 11, 2011

She is a fun teacher.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself on both days.  In keeping with my usual idiocy, I forgot to take a picture of her.  I have pictures of my projects and during my lunchtime walk around the fairgrounds.  It seemed a bit surreal.  It was so quiet.  There were no crowds.

I decided to make the hat bigger.   NO ONE in my family has a head that small.  Here is the finished product with a pair of my fun glasses.

We made some heel flaps.  I liked all three shown here and plan on putting them in future socks.  I still have at least six more pair planned so far this year.

And here’s my little sock.   Biscuit liked it.  She thought it was a new cat toy.  I finished this late at night and forgot about creating a line.

Almost Time for Maryland Sheep and Wool

May 3, 2011

I’m taking Komi knitting patterns class on Thursday and fancy heels on Friday morning.  I have found suitable yarn and needles for my classes without having to buy anything.  I have very few needles in the sizes indicated, but what I found will do.  Most of my needles are smaller(for socks and gloves) or bigger(for sweaters). The same goes for my yarn— a lot of fine and heavy with little in between.  Also, finding white or beige was impossible.  Yellow will have to do.  I’m just not a white or beige person.

Here’s the blue sock.  Not bad for two days.  I’m almost to the hell.  I’ll have to play around with it a bit since there are an odd number of repeats.  The swirls can get confusing.  Next, it’s on to Sock That Rock kits or maybe not.  I need more cotton socks for summer.

I finally remembered to reply to the comment I received on Rue last week.  Have a look.  I really liked it.

Like Father, like son.

Out all night AGAIN!  No wonder she can’t keep her eyes open.  She has only spent the night inside twice in the last ten.

Can I Put my Wool Hats and Gloves Away Yet?

April 28, 2011

Can I put my turtlenecks, fleece tops and cords away?  Can I get out my shorts and sandals?  I hope so.  The last several days makes me want to do it.  But, it’s not May yet.  What to do. What to do.

These days,  the only time I see Flo is when I get up in the morning and at suppertime.   She likes to sleep on the porch furniture at night and in the bushes during the day.  I don’t like her spending the night out, but she doesn’t care.  Don’t tell me to keep her in.  You have never been around this cat when she wants to go OUT!  And it better be NOW!

I finished these yesterday and started another pair today.   I’ve had some blue that is boring, but I found an interesting pattern in More Sensational Socks.  I am thinking about making gloves with this leftover yarn.  They’re always fun to make.  And you don’t have to take off your shoes and socks to try them on.  This can be done at knitting group, but not on the subway.  It’s frowned upon for some reason.  When it gets too hot to knit with wool, I’ll switch to Sockotta yarn.  I’ve four skeins of the stuff and some Panda Cotton somewhere.

Cora has been trying to teach Rue back stretches, but he’s not interested.

He would rather hang out with his buddy, Gus.  And what are they looking at?

Is that Olive over there?

It was Fun, But….

April 11, 2011

I’m glad to be home.  I had to stay until late Friday as I had something repaired and it wasn’t finished.  Then  I didn’t leave until Saturday morning due to the rain.  It was bad enough going out in it during the day.  I didn’t relish driving in the dark in the rain for two hours.

TWO DAYS LATER

I finally made it to DMV to renew my license.  I didn’t take all that crap with me so it’s not ‘federally compliant’.  It doesn’t have to be done until 2014, but my license is good until 2016.  Maybe I’ll find it by then.  Or maybe I won’t.  Having worked for the feds for 30 some years and several administrations, I’ll wait and see.  Oh.  One more thing.  I had to pay a late fee of $1.15.  One dollar and fifteen cents!

I just finished my Mermaid Scarf.  Sorry, but there will be no picture yet.  My laptop and good camera aren’t talking again. I still need to steam it so it will look better tomorrow anyway.   And I’ve started sewing my little quilt together.  I don’t know why sewing little squares together is so enjoyable.

Tomorrow is Rue’s big day.  He’s going to be tutored.  The girls are all laughing at him.

If It’s so Nice Outside, What am I Doing Inside?

April 4, 2011

Well, for one thing, I had to open all the windows.  Then, horror of horrors, I broke a nail.  And I’m a little tired from my walk.  It was very windy on the pier.  But I could sit and watch the waves without freezing over.  I couldn’t help but thank God for such a beautiful day.    Actually, I’m waiting for the sun to come around to the deck.  It’s rather chilly in the shade with the wind.

I should sew.  I have 486 little squares and rectangles to put together and flowers to applique.  And there’s my son’s jeans.  I need to do it by Wednesday.  I wasn’t planning on going there until May, but my daughter bought circus tickets on/for my birthday.  I’ll stay for a few days.  I’ve been wanting to visit an old friend.

Look at what I got from Canada.  It’s fingering weight from Laines Magnifiques.  The colorway is Queen of Hearts.  She’s on etsydot com.  It’s one of those sites that is always getting me in trouble.  I plan to take a skein with me to Sheep & Wool to, hopefully, find a nice semi-solid caramel to go with it.  My daughter really liked it so I’ll make her a vest.  Originally, I was going to accent it with black, but she said it would look great with her ‘brown’ pants.  Forty-five years old and I still spoil her.  But it’s a labor of love.  And I have an excuse to create.

Well.  The sun is starting to hit the chairs.  I’m out of  here.

Still in Reisterstown

March 25, 2011

I was going to leave this morning, but my son wanted me to go shopping with him.  So I went to the Amish market.  I bought a stuffed pork chop for supper.  They are really big, so one if enough for two people.  I picked up some creamed spinach to go with it.  I also got ham spread, macaroni salad, cheese and cheese bread for Sweetums.

Since it’s so cold out, I went on down to Jo Ann’s and bought a Lucy Neatby DVD.  I got ribbon feet from Viking.  They look like fun.  Darn.  Now I am thinking about sewing and wishing I had brought a machine with me.  I had just cut out a bunch of squares for a little quilt before I left home and I really want to get back to it.

I do have my knitting.  I forgot to bring extra needles for the hat.  I am working on the decreases and finally had to stop.  So I am working on the mitered sweater.  Miters are fun to do and I’m about 3/4 finished on the body.  The pattern that I’m ‘kinda’ using has the sleeves worked separately, but I think I will work them from the shoulders down.  That will eliminate the seams.

Still reading?  Well, I’m surprised.  I know this has been a pretty boring post so I’ll add some random pictures for you.

Spoiled cat.
