I finally got out the ham and cooked it. Now my kitchen smells, and so does my refrigerator. It was good, but I could only eat so much of it. Now I have all this leftover. I am going to be so sick of it. I’ll freeze some of it. I could make ham salad, but it’s so messy. The one thing I really like about ham is making bean soup so I guess I’ll have to buy some soup beans. Even then, I won’t be able eat it until the day after I make it. I’ll make some cornbread, too. I have a good recipe that I’ve developed over the years.
I’ve been putting my Puzzle Me This sweater together. There is a lot of three needle bind-offs that make it slow. The yarn is a bit rough and uneven. After I finish, there is the front band to make. I hope it’s worth the aggravation.
I’ve been sewing, too. I patched my husband’s and son’s jeans. I was a bit surprised at the way they smelled. The jeans were clean, but washed in different machines with different detergents. It was like the “man” smell was permanently saturated in them. I also worked on Win’s camera case. I sewed the pieces to the stabilizer. If it snows tomorrow, I may get it completed. I have been jotting down notes and taking pictures that I will be putting on my camera case page.
There’s nothing like cat help.

It was deceit enough to take a picture outside. I really liked making this sweater. Coming up the back and going down the front was a nice feature. I still haven’t decided on buttons yet, but the baby isn’t due until February, so there’s time. I may just let my daughter decide.

Here’s the Jim Shore calendar wall quilt that I made for my daughter. I personalized it by adding an appliqued heart and special dates. I added five hanger loops across the top with the leftover binding. I’m very happy with the results.
I rode down to Salisbury yesterday and bought three bags of Pecan Yummies for my son-in-law at the UPS store. I’m not certain he will get all three bags. They do look yummy.

I’ve decided hat I don’t need them. Why do I need them? I’ve got three little girls to decorate it. And they are not breakable. Cora is very good at picking the ornaments off and carrying them off to parts unknown. I am also very afraid that she will do it to one that is very special to me.
It has been raining all day. It’s only n the mid-fifties, but I am chilled to the bone. It really sucks. No wonder I’m in a bad mood. I have finished the machine sewing. I even made hangers of it. Hopefully, I’ll get the hand sewing accomplished in the next day or two. The babes are sleeping now, so perhaps I can get a lot of it finished tonight. The baby sweater is finished except for the snaps and buttons. I haven’t made up my mind yet.

It’s really been cold for the past few days. I even had to wear a coat. Yesterday, it was so windy, we didn’t get very far. Today, with no wind, we were out for quite a while. I was really tired and achy when we got back.
I tried to finish my daughter’s calendar quilt this afternoon and had to stop. Usually, I can sit there for hours, but now today. So I decided it was time to put up the Christmas tree. Well, I got Doug to bring it up from the cellar. No matter what we did, we couldn’t some of the strings of lights to work. Bummer. We’ve got to find some more lights. I never did get any ornaments on.

They’re all grown up now. They wandered around for a few hours and then sailed off down the river.
I’ve been trying to make these little round numbers to applique. They are making me crazy. I almost threw them out. I probably would have if I hadn’t embroidered them. I hated to waste them. Now I’m trying to decide how I want to make the back. I still have some wide red strips that would look nice.

So, no dog walk. I made some mashed potatoes and took a shower. When the potatoes cooled, I made roll dough and put them in the refrigerator until tomorrow. While Doug made up his mind as to what he wanted to bake, I finished the embroidery.
I love my embroidery machine. This is going to be a label to put on the back. I’m also doing some applique.
Here’s another picture of the label.
Doug went with cherry almond muffins. It was a mix that I bought in Intercourse last week. And they were good, too. Maybe, I’ll make buckwheat pancakes Thrusday morning. It’s another mix, too.

I just don’t understand why I find cutting out and sewing little squares together. There is something else I don’t understand. After carefully cutting, the pieces are not exact when sewn together. Sometimes I wonder how I ever managed to make a queen size quilt.

It was only in the mid fifties when we went for our walk today. I guess Autumn is finally here. Can Winter be far behind? At least I have plenty of warm socks. I was looking at my sock yarn this morning, trying to decide which one to use next. I have also been looking at shawl patterns to use the lace weight yarn I bought at Knitter’s Nest. It was hard to drag myself back to the baby socks. I finished one sock of the third pair of baby socks. I finished cutting all the pieces for the small quilt and started sewing. Can I get any more boring?

These socks are fun to make. I had never made toe-up socks before. I’m still not sure if I’ll make myself a pair. I like the diagonal line so I may. Flo wasn’t much help.
I started work on a small wall quilt for Jen for Christmas. It has finally gotten too cool to be outside. I didn’t too far. When I was changing the blade, I sliced my thumb a little. Luckily, I didn’t get any blood on the fabric.
It’s not cold enough to turn the heat on, so I make lime bars to warm it up a little this afternoon. This evening, we have a fire going.
