Looks awful, doesn’t it?
Here I took a needle and picked up every other row to help keep track of which row I was on.

Here I am crocheting the stitches up the rows.
You can’t even tell.

Elvis puked on this sweater yesterday.
No. Maude did not get puked on. I hate to even think what she would do if that happened. Anyway, he did it when I was up to my eyeballs in cake batter and blueberries. Yes. It was Sandy’s recipe. I managed to scoop up Elvis and push him out the back door. My screaming brought Doug with offers to help. He got the sweater down and proceeded to holler for instructions. I had to make two trips to the basement before I was able to get back to the cake. Then, Doug started hovering in the kitchen. I had to growl at him three times before he went away. I needed the cake finished and myself cleaned by 5:30 and he wasn’t helping matters. He decided it was a good time to take Gus for a walk.
Elvis turned out all right. He actually had a good time outside. He soaked up some sun.
See the brick walk Doug put down.
And he visited the neighbors.

Zip had to follow. He’s so nosy.
We didn’t get out until 5:50. So much for Linda’s 5:30ish. We decided on Mexican. Linda got her usual #114, Paul got #117, Doug went with #129 and I ordered #1. Everybody including the waiter looked at me. I had #140 last time and now I was starting over. There are too many good items at this restaurant for me ever to settle on one thing. And there are just a few that I would not get again. I hope I recognize them when I get to them.
The yarn feels wonderfully soft. It’s merino with some bamboo and nylon. I could make a whole sweater in this stuff. I like the pattern, too. I got it from TheKnitter.com. Now, the problem is—Should this be my next project? I am almost finished the mittens and I have started on the second glove. And I still have one other thing to make. The baby quilt will be finished this evening and I should have a picture tomorrow.
If Zip lets me.
See that little path in my yard? My cats did that the first time it snowed and it’s still there! How could such cute little kitties do such a thing?
Don’t believe anything she says.
I had this cat that liked to test gravity. Everything was fair game. She would slowly nudge stuff over the side, watch it fall and find something else to move. We learned to keep things like sugar and spices in very heavy containers. She also did not believe in walking across the floor when there were chairs, tables, counter tops, refrigerators, tops of wall cabinets, and curtail rods to test. And that’s only the kitchen. She never ate on the floor with the rest of the cats and she drank milk out of a cup, never a bowl. If the cup was too small or didn’t have much in it, she would stick her paw in it and lick it off. Needless to say, we didn’t let our cups out of our site. We learned a lot from this cat. She had us well trained. She had eight children, all of which had something strange about them. We still have one—Elvis. He’s a good old boy. He doesn’t believe is overexerting himself so there’s no telling how long he’ll last.

Yeah! I’m a little melancholy today. I think I’ll be hitting the animal shelters soon.
I’m working on the second mitten.
I have been looking at quilt patterns. I want to cover my dining room table with a quilted top to help protect it from the cats, especially Zip. He is always in trouble with his “Gotta love me” attitude. I have several ideas, but I need to finish the baby quilt first. I still haven’t put the binding on. I have the fabric. It will either be reds, whites and blacks or pinks and greens. I think I’ll drag out the fabric tomorrow and lay it all out. I am also debating on whether some applique would be good or bad. I really enjoy applique, but maybe not with cats running across it.
I was thinking about making one of these for my Sacred Wiener Dog.
From there, it was just a short hop to the mantel.
At this point, I had to put the camera down and grab her. Knocking down my little snowman candle holders was the next thing on her agenda.
We had a very nice walk this morning. It was cold, but sunny. The horses all came over looking for treats. We give them what the owners recommend and only one per horse per day. Gus loves them, too. Doug always has some little pieces in his pocket for him. The blackbirds have been passing through for the last week or so. There are so many that they sound like the wind when they pass over.
Gus likes to scare the geese. They are guarding the island so they are always around now.

How do you like this one? I did this this morning before breakfast. Fun yarn will do that to you. Aching knees woke me up early today. It was very cloudy all day and raw. Everything stayed wet. I didn’t go very far on my walk.
I worked on the mittens, too.

I bought some books this afternoon and fabric, thread and a shirt pattern on line. I had been waiting to do this so that they would come in the next two weeks. We learned that our mail-person is paid on the number of items she delivers over the next two weeks. We think this bites so we deliberately waited to order stuff.
The quilting is almost done. Then I have to try to even the thing out and put on the dreaded binding. At least Zip isn’t helping this time.

Ellen sent me her picture in the hat she made with my pattern. Looking good!
I found some flannel that matches the baby quilt. I thought that I would put a border all around it and applique some of the extra animals on it. I have to finish the quilt first if Zip will let me.
He was so bad yesterday that even Elvis hollered at him. And Elvis is the coolest cat in the world and don’t let Zip tell you otherwise.

Yeah. It’s that kind of a day.

At first, I wasn’t going to mention it.
My Myuushi died this morning. He went down to the basement, laid down on the pile of dirty clothes and died.
Let me tell you about Myuushi…..
We always put hard food and plenty in the back room on our garage when we go on vacation. My daughter came by and fed the cats. If any got out, they had a place to go and eat and drink. We also did this in the winter because strange cats would wander in and out at times.
Nine and a half years ago, when we drove home, a tiny kitten darted into the cat hole in the garage. We tried the rest of the day to corner him. I went to the kennel to pick up King. When I got back, the dog scared the kitten again. Late Sunday night, we finally found him. He was very sick was a nasty cut in his neck. I called the emergency vet and took him in. I didn’t think that I would ever see him again, but we brought him home around midnight. At first, we called him Lucky because he was lucky to be alive. My son was 13 at that time and started calling him Myuushi and that stuck. Even the spelling was his doing. He was also known as Football and Rolly. He was very short and round. Even his tail was short. Try and catch him and all you got was the tip of his tail.
Myuushi’s parents were probably feral. He had several of the traits. He loved the basement, the third floor, the garage and the night. He loved to hide. We would be looking for something and find him curled up in the oddest places. Many times one of us would say, “Guess where I found Myuushi today.” I was very worried about him when we moved to Delaware. He loved the basement here. Doug had built shelves and moved a lot of things into the basement before the big move. And that’s where The Myuush stayed for the first several weeks. If we left food down there, we never would have seen him. Plus, there is a furness room with a half door and a sand floor that is even better.
Myuushi wound up really liking it here. He actually went out during the day and interacted much more with our other pets. He was a happy boy. He had a good life.
