At least it’s not raining any more. We had some flooding in the yard. I am so glad we had our bulkhead done a foot higher than the rest.
Cora had a grand time. She was outside most of the day. Now, she’s sound asleep on the living room rug.
Here she is checking out some geese.

I hadn’t done any mitered squares for long while. I forgot how much fun they were.

Zip has changed over the past few weeks. Don’t worry. It’s for the better. A couple of whole male cats had been coming around and marking . It really upset him. He hadn’t been himself snce Elvis , and now there are new little girls to watch over. He started staying out all night and the other males have stopped coming around. Zip is a lot happier and is enjoying being a new father.

I spent a couple of hours researching a product this afternoon. I found one at a good price with “free shipping”. I started the buying procedure. They said shipping would be $10.95 to Delaware. It was coming from Georgia. I could understand it if I lived in Alaska. I assume you have to live across the street from them to get free shipping! So, you know where I’m buying it? Walmart. I’m using ‘the ship to store’ method. It’s no big deal. I go there every week anyway. Ask me if I’m pissed. All that work for nothing.
There won’t be any tea towel pictures today. I used the wrong towel so I’m making another. It’s a good thing I know more than one guy named John. Actually, I’m making about five more. I keep getting more ideas.
Poor Zipper was out in the rain this afternoon. It rained all morning and then the sun came out shortly after noon. We decided to go shopping and Zip decided to go out. Well, while we were out, it started raining again. It was really pouring by the time we got home, but we have a garage and can go directly into the house from it. Doug immediately opened the back door and in zipped Zip. He was NOT happy! He grabbed a towel and dried him off as best he could. Zip’s pretty good about that. He is a very clean boy. He also lets you comb him. And, of course, he loves the attention! He is such a big baby.

Notice I said “finished”, not “done” as in baked in the oven. Actually, they could stand some heat. They are a little big. So I put them on and washed the dishes and gave them a good scrubbing. The cuffs are the right size so I had to be careful. Here they are pre-wash.

Can you see the difference in the thumbs? The left thumb (bottom) was knit with the main color in my left hand and the right with contrasting color in my right hand. Also, the left cuff is two rows shorter than the right. I’m glad they are finished. Now I can go back to my black socks. When they are finished, I’m starting on these.

Red Bird Kit
It’s mosaic which I haven’t done in a long long time. Somewhere in this house, I have the Barbara Walker book. It must be forty years old. Am I that old? It works with one color at a time and every pattern round is worked twice. The yarn is wool, silk, poly amide and cashmere and it’s machine washable. That’s why I like
Red Bird. They always send great yarn and interesting patterns.

I was going to blog yesterday. Really. I was all set. I had new pictures. But the internet said no. I don’t know why. It’s really been a nice Internet. Maybe it knew that I was still being grumpy and it didn’t want to have anything to do with that.
For the second day, the creek iced over. It was so cold, I didn’t even go out to walk the dog. I did get a lot of sewing done and the finished the baby socks.
I had plenty of help.
Olive pinned. Maude sewed. Zippo ironed.

And the Sacred Wiener Dog supervised.

Olive went to the vet this morning to get tutored and Zippo is starting to miss her. He is trying to lay on my chest right now so typing is difficult. He started calling for her this afternoon and now he’s a real basket case. Actually, Doug is being a real pain, too. I can pick her up after 10AM tomorrow and he will probably be pushing me out the door at 945.

Perhaps, tomorrow, I’ll take a picture of the sock I’m working on.

Maybe that’s why it was so hot. I think it got up to 85 today. I’m not used to sweating in October. It is supposed to be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow. Everybody is going to be so sick.
My son was off from work today so he came for a visit and brought two gallons of Weber’s cider. I finally thought of a good birthday present this evening. Doug is so hard to buy for. When I find what I want, I’ll post a picture.
Thawing frozen bananas is gross. Peeling them and mashing them is even worse. If anyone ever saw me making this cake, they would never eat it. I don’t tell what’s in it. They wouldn’t believe me. They just say that it is the best chocolate cake they have ever eaten.
The mail person brought me a package today. Now I have to figure out how much I still need.

I think I want another green.

Good night.
