Nano Stuff

December 28, 2008

So, I downloaded iTunes and I read a bunch of stuff.  It said it has to charge for three hours so I thought I would blog.  I looked at accessories.  I know I want to be able to play it in the car.  I like being able to put my CDs on it.  I looked at some package deals, but only a few had what I wanted.  I’ll probably make my own case for it.  It needs to have a pocket for the earpiece.  I’ll probably also make a separate case for the other stuff .  I’ll have to look through my stash.

Here’s Olive in a rare pose.

That’s more like it.

One Latvian Sock

December 22, 2008

I finished it at knitting group this afternoon.  I need to try it on before it’s official.  I have even started the second sock.   The toe was supposed to be solid, but I twined knitted with both colors for more durability.

It rained all night and until noon today.  Maude was very vocal about it.  We have got to stop doing this.  It’s all our fault you know that she can’t go out.  Olive is learning a lot from Maude.

Luckily for us, the rain stopped and she got to go out.  Olive is still too young to go out, but she has been practicing on the Christmas tree for when the time comes.

Apple Pie

December 18, 2008

I made pie crust yesterday and it’s still sitting in a ball in the refrigerator.  Today wasn’t a good day.  Doug asked me this evening if I was going to finish them tonight and I didn’t even answer him.  I just sat there and knit.

I took a video of Olive and showed it to her.  One of these days I’ll get around to putting them on Utube.

I played the snowman for her.12-18-08-012  I don’t think she liked it.

Maude is Still Out

December 16, 2008

You can see her there in the yard.  She said, “It’s not cold.  I”m not coming in.”

Here she is sitting on the deck railing this afternoon.

Since I don’t have very many ornaments that can stand up to this kind of treatment, it didn’t take me long to trim the Christmas tree.  I have also decided to display the Nativity in the glassed in china closet.

Olive’s New Toy

December 14, 2008

I thought it was a Christmas tree, but Olive had other ideas.

Putting up the tree helped to lift my spirits for a while.  Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow.  It’s supposed to me warmer.  I don’t  dare put any ornaments on the tree until we get it tied down.  I may have to resort to only using my unbreakables.

I took this picture at 4PM.  The sun is almost down.  Ican’t stand it.

I was determined to use both colors when rounding out the heel.  It took four tries.  I couldn’t get it snug enough to suit me.

I Never Know What to Wear

December 9, 2008

It was nearly forty degrees warmer today than yesterday.  It’s supposed to be the same tomorrow with rain thrown in.  The rain will continue into Friday, but the temperature will drop.  I am going to get “P” pneumonia!

Excuse me.  I have to go down to the basement and point at boxes that are clearly marked as Christmas for my husband.  Olive can hardly wait.  The others have told her all about it.

Olive is Pooky

November 26, 2008

I took Olive to the vet today.  She got two shots and worm medicine.  She slept all afternoon and didn’t want supper which is unusual for her.  I also made an appointment for her “operation”.  I need to take Elvis one day soon.  He could use another shot.  He has been a little congested.  Dr Mike said that a tech can do it so I won’t have to wait so long.

I finished my Danish sweater last night and got back to my red socks.  I am expecting another sock club next week and still have another to make.

I had trouble getting it over the doll’s head.  I should have made the neck looser.

Knitting in Snow Hill

November 17, 2008

Since we can’t knit at the bookstore, we went to the yarn shop in Snow Hill.  It took about an hour and a quarter to get there.  I looked around and bought some of those new square needles and a few skeins of yarn.  If it weren’t for group, I wouldn’t go there.  It was a nice shop.  She had good stuff, but it’s not near anything else that would give me a reason to head that way.  My little shadow purse is almost finished so I should have a picture in another day or two.

Little Olive is adjusting to her new home.  Maude watches her playing.  It’s just a matter of time before she will join in the fun.  Zip is still upset and he is mad at everyone so it will take him longer.  Gus, being the goofy idiot he is, scares the daylights out of Olive.  She has hit him several times.  He doesn’t understand.  All he wants to do is lick her all over.  Friday evening, when the neighbors were over, Paul was holding Olive.  Gus was so upset, he went over to Doug leaned against him and whined.  We all laughed at him which made things worse.

I took about a dozen pictures before I got this one.

New Einstein

November 14, 2008

I had palanned to show what I bought today, but I’m still disorganized.  At this rate, it’l be two weeks before I have recovered.  Then there’s Thanksgiving, shopping, Christmas and New Year.  So, I’m thinking maybe February.  It’s the middle of winter.  Sounds good to me.

In the meantime, I have all these unfinished projects.  I have one red sock, one shadow purse and one miniature sleeve to finish.  After that, I can get back to my star sweater.  But, my Einstein is finished—-I think.  At least I can’t think of anything else I currently want to do with it.  I put on another collar last night, decided it didn’t look awful and used the same stuff to add little cuffs.  They may not look like much, but the yarn is a wool, angora blend and it feels really soft.

The flowers turned out well and I even made a little flowered flower pot.

I still don’t know what to do with the back.  Maybe I’ll make some colored trees and remove the same colored ones.
