November 30, 2008

p1010156

I finished it last night.  I think it turned out well.

We had frost this morning.  The geese didn’t seem to mind.  They still managed to eat the neighbors grass seed.  I think these are Canada Geese.  Delmarva Geese don’t get up this early.

Doug had already brought in the summer flowers.  Now we’ll have leaves all over the house all winter.  Whoopee.

Black Friday

November 29, 2008

It is my understanding that it the day that retailers usually get out of the red and go into the black.  I didn’t do anything to help the situation.  It is much safer to stay home.

I decided to make a hat to go with the Danish sweater.  It’s almost finished.  Maybe I’ll have a picture in another day or two.

Olive is Pooky

November 26, 2008

I took Olive to the vet today.  She got two shots and worm medicine.  She slept all afternoon and didn’t want supper which is unusual for her.  I also made an appointment for her “operation”.  I need to take Elvis one day soon.  He could use another shot.  He has been a little congested.  Dr Mike said that a tech can do it so I won’t have to wait so long.

I finished my Danish sweater last night and got back to my red socks.  I am expecting another sock club next week and still have another to make.

I had trouble getting it over the doll’s head.  I should have made the neck looser.

I Talked to My Son Today

November 23, 2008

Win’s coming down for Thanksgiving Thursday afternoon.  He’s leaving early Friday because he has to work in the evening.  I’ll be glad when he gets a regular job.  I wanted to make Lasagna, but he asked for turkey and rolls and apple pie.  I bought apples when I went to Paradise on Veterans Day, so he is anticipating pies.  The pies and rolls are no problem.  It’s the turkey.  They are godawful big.  You have to cook them for hours.  It smells up the whole house.  The giblets are disgusting.  You have to make gravy and dressing.  BUT, they have great legs.  Once the legs and white meat is gone, I want to throw the rest out.  But I won’t.   There is always turkey pot pies.  I’ll make soup with what’s left.  It’s my nature.

I looked out this morning and I saw this lonely duck.  She was calling, but no one was answering.

p1010116

I forgot I had these.  They are made out of warm, soft, bunny hair.  I’ve started putting together my little sweater.  Maybe I’ll have a picture in another day or two.

No Sewing

November 21, 2008

I haven’t done any sewing since I got back and that was over a week ago.  I haven’t done as much knitting as I want either.  And I don’t think I’ll catch up on my reading.  Everyday, I have to go somewhere and it seems to take a lot longer than planned and I haven’t taken Olive to the vet yet.  Tomorrow, wehave to do some cleaning before the neighbors come over.  I guess I should have called this one, “Today’s Rant”.

Shadow Purse

November 18, 2008

I finished it this afternoon.  Now I’m not sure what I am going to do with it.

Knitting in Snow Hill

November 17, 2008

Since we can’t knit at the bookstore, we went to the yarn shop in Snow Hill.  It took about an hour and a quarter to get there.  I looked around and bought some of those new square needles and a few skeins of yarn.  If it weren’t for group, I wouldn’t go there.  It was a nice shop.  She had good stuff, but it’s not near anything else that would give me a reason to head that way.  My little shadow purse is almost finished so I should have a picture in another day or two.

Little Olive is adjusting to her new home.  Maude watches her playing.  It’s just a matter of time before she will join in the fun.  Zip is still upset and he is mad at everyone so it will take him longer.  Gus, being the goofy idiot he is, scares the daylights out of Olive.  She has hit him several times.  He doesn’t understand.  All he wants to do is lick her all over.  Friday evening, when the neighbors were over, Paul was holding Olive.  Gus was so upset, he went over to Doug leaned against him and whined.  We all laughed at him which made things worse.

I took about a dozen pictures before I got this one.

I Think I was Busy

November 16, 2008

Not much was accomplished today.  I did things.  I just didn’t finish anything.  I hate that.  I honestly thought that I would complete my little knitting project from last Friday and be able to show it to you.  It didn’t happen.  Maybe tomorrow, but Idoubt it.  Knitting group is tomorrow so maybe I will.  I’m picking up Leslie and we are driving down to Snow Hill.  We’ve never been there so we are planning on getting lost together.  Maybe I’d better put an extra granola bar in my knitting bag.

New Einstein

November 14, 2008

I had palanned to show what I bought today, but I’m still disorganized.  At this rate, it’l be two weeks before I have recovered.  Then there’s Thanksgiving, shopping, Christmas and New Year.  So, I’m thinking maybe February.  It’s the middle of winter.  Sounds good to me.

In the meantime, I have all these unfinished projects.  I have one red sock, one shadow purse and one miniature sleeve to finish.  After that, I can get back to my star sweater.  But, my Einstein is finished—-I think.  At least I can’t think of anything else I currently want to do with it.  I put on another collar last night, decided it didn’t look awful and used the same stuff to add little cuffs.  They may not look like much, but the yarn is a wool, angora blend and it feels really soft.

The flowers turned out well and I even made a little flowered flower pot.

p1000993

I still don’t know what to do with the back.  Maybe I’ll make some colored trees and remove the same colored ones.

Sunday at Stitches

November 10, 2008

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 6AM for the third day in a row.  How did I ever manage to get up at 430 every morning and go to work?  I think money had something to do with it.

I don’t know why this computer does what it does.  I just have to live with it.

I had a great time and excellent teachers.  I’m sad that it is over, but I’m glad too.  I’m tired and I plan to sleep my fill tomorrow.

I’ll give you more details when I get home.
