I bought the June sock kit from yarn4socks to give it a try. It came just as I was finishing the Noro gloves, so I started right on them. I would have preferred that it was in one skein rather than two, otherwise I have no complaints. The pattern went quickly and I like the look of it. And, of course, I love the color. You can’t go wrong with red as far as I’m concerned. The company was quick to inform me of mistakes in the pattern which was nice. For once, I did not change anything. I’ve all ready made one sock and will be starting the other as soon as I finish writing this.

Hey Jupiter Socks
June 14, 2009Noro Gloves are Finished
June 9, 2009
I had to diddle with six of the fingers. They were too wide at the top. I undid several rows and took out two ro four stitches on the way back up. They fit just the way I like them now. Maybe, I’ll get back to the hats tomorrow. But, I did get a sock club today, so maybe not.
The Squirrel is Gone
June 4, 2009I am so glad. Those things can be so destructive. At least, Zip took it down to the basement. Gus would have gone ballistic. He was acting crazy enough when Zip ran through.
I haven’t worked on the sunhats. The weather has been too nice for me to stay inside. It is supposed to be rainny for the next few days so Maybe I’ll get them done.
The Noro gloves are coming along. I’m above the thumb gusset. I amy have them finished by the end of the week.
Squirrel in the Basement
June 2, 2009Zip likes to chase squirrels. Today, he managed to one that was about half grown. The back door was open. In came Zip and ran down the stairs where he dropped it. And lost it. It’s still down there. We left a window open and we are hoping it will leave on its own. If not, we’ll have to get a trap. There are so many things that it could get into. I hate to think about it.
One glove is finished!
New Noro Gloves
June 1, 2009
I took this picture last night. I should have it finished this evening. I’m working on the thumb. I’ve started the thumb with blue, but I don’t know if I’ll keep it.

I’ve decided to make another sunhat for a friend. Normally, she doesn’t wear hats, but her doctor said she needs to keep her head covered. I bought this fabric with her in mind. Unfortunately, the only picture of her dog was right in the middle. Fortunately, I’ve got plenty of fabric.
Busy Week
May 30, 2009The plan was to go to Reisterstown for a few days, visit and maybe ride up to Pennsylvania to shop. But it didn’t happen. Wednesday morning, I noticed the tag on Win’s car was about to expire. I wound up driving it back that evening since it had to be inspected by Friday. We took it to DMV Thursday morning. It passed and we bought a two year sticker. Win drove my car back Thursday afternoon.

Don't believe anything she says
This morning around 6AM, Olive and Zip decided to play king and queen of the clothes basket. After they settled down, Gus started snoring. I finally gave up and got up at 7Am. I read for a while, then cooked sausage for breakfast. When Win got up, I made pancakes. He wanted to go to the Beach. Luckily, he didn’t care if I went with him. I think that if I had had a good night’s sleep, I would have liked to have gone also.
Well, Friday evening is finally here. Things are back to normal. We went out to eat with the neighbors, then Win went home. Maybe, I’ll o again in a few weeks, and, hopefully, the sunhat will be finished.
On the knitting front, I’ve started another pair of gloves. I’m using Noro sock yarn. I’m up to the little finger all ready. Gloves are instant gratification. I’ll post a picture when I find my camera.
Knots and Crosses Socks
May 25, 2009I finished my socks from Red Bird this evening. I love the way they look.

Olive caught a Mole
May 19, 2009She was so proud of herself, she wanted to bring it in to show everyone. We wouldn’t let her in, so she played with it for a while on the sandpile. I don’t think she ate it. Too much fur.

And now for the obligatory goose baby picture.
I managed to get about half of my flowers planted on Saturday. Yesterday, it rained, and I had knitting group. I’ve been working on my Red Bird socks. As usual, I am thoroughly enjoying these socks.

Scarf for Bella Mittens
May 17, 2009For those of you who are looking for a food critique, we didn’t go anywhere new last night. We went to Smith’s again. As always, the food was wonderful. Three of us had stuffed scallops and Paul had stuffed chicken. He always has to be different. The spinach, asparagus, Cole slaw and macaroni and cheese were perfect. And s o were the rolls.
I made this to go with the Bella Mittens. I had most of a skein left and I was still able to make a four foot scarf. The cable pattern made it possible to slip one end into the other at any position. I cast on 18 stitches. I knit three stitches, did the cable, knit three stitches. It was simple. I used a size ten needle.

Happy Mothers Day to All You Mothers Out THere
May 10, 2009OK. That’s taken care of. Did I end that sentence with a preposition? Sorry. I worked with a woman many years ago who could rattle off prepositions in alphabetical order at will. Her third grade teacher made her memorize them and she never forgot. It was something to do when work was slow or boring or for whatever other reason you could come with. Oops. I did it again.
Query. Why is oops in my spell check, but not blog?
I don’t think that I mentioned MD Sheep & Wool. I got there Saturday morning around 8:15. I went to the women’s room, bought nasturtiums and took them back to he car. They hold them for you, but I was afraid that I would have too much to carry or I would forget them. Besides, it wasn’t far at all to my van. It pays to come early. It sprinkled in the afternoon, but not enough to warrant rain gear. I didn’t buy much, but I probably mentioned that I have enough yarn to last a lifetime. Maybe when I think I’m going to kick over, I’ll have a contest with the winner getting all my yarn and related paraphernalia.
I found some pink and gray sock yarn to go with my poncho, but lately I have been thinking about taking it apart and making it into a sweater. I never wear the stupid poncho, but the yarn is so nice that it deserves something better. I also have some pink and gray skeins in other yarns, so I’m good. I was supposed to make a scarf with them, but I never did.
