Seaford Pizza Hut

March 14, 2009

We didn’t go out to dinner last night.  My girlfriend had been sick all week and didn’t feel up to it.  Hopefully, next Friday we will going to Old Mill in Delmar.

Earlier this week, we went over to Pizza Hut after doing some shopping.  We ordered a large Supreme stuffed crust and substituted the green peppers for anchovies.  The service was adequate.  There used to be an older woman who was very good, but I haven’t seen her the last few times we were there.  Considering the fact that all the staff seemed young enough to be my grandchildren, the pizza was surprisingly good.   We go about once a month.

My Little Wooden Box

The post person brought me a package today.  I was coming back from my walk.  If I hadn’t called out to her, I would have had to wait another day.   My friend, Christine, carved and painted it herself.  I really like it.  She has a lot of patience.  I probably would have taken a hammer to it and it would be in a hundred pieces.  I don’t know what I am going to put in it yet, but I’m certain I’ll find a use for it.  Being a sewer and a knitter, I can always use another container for all my doodads.  Something with a lid is even better since I have a little cat who likes to pull things apart.

When I took the lid, this wonderful aroma hit me.  There was tea inside, so I made a cup.  It’s very good.   Today has been one of those raw, cold days.  Getting this gift really perked up my spirits.

Thanks so much, Christine.

Curlique Socks

March 10, 2009

030909-012 I am really happy with my new socks.  They are soft and squishy and are a perfect fit, if I do say so myself.

030909-017

I made a little mistake.  I didn’t notice until it was almost finished.  I wasn’t about to undo it.

I reversed the colors on the second one.  I kept messing up so I copied the patterns and colored them.

My daughter asked me to take the flare out of  the sleeves on the cotton sweater I had made her.  I’ve already finished one and I should be finished in a few days.   Then I can go back to the handbag.  After that, I think I’ll make another pair of socks only on size four needles so they won’t take too long.  What should I do next?  I still have a sweater and a vest that I need to finish.  Can you that I am making myself crazy here?  I got to go.

Wrong Jimmy’s

March 9, 2009

I’m sorry.  I neglected to mention which Jimmy’s.  I was talking about the one in Salisbury, not Bridgeville.  We went to the one in Bridgeville a while back and had a good meal.  We took home a couple of pieces of banana walnut cake and found it to be better than what was offered at the place in Salisbury.  I’ve been thinking.  I do that occasionally.  Since we normally go out to dinner on Friday with friends, I might try to get into the habit of critiquing the restaurant on Saturday.  What do you think?

First Day Out

March 9, 2009

With the beautiful weather, we felt it was time for Olive to venture outside.  We left the screens open at little cat width and before long she tried the great outdoors.  She was very nervous and never left the deck.  She went in and out several times, but only for a few minutes each time.p1010994

Zip, on the other hand, had a great time.  It was so very nice not to have snow squishing between his toes with every step.p1010996

He checked the neighbor’s shed.  He can’t resist an open door.

What Happened to Jimmy’s Grille?

March 8, 2009

We went there last night expecting to have another great meal like we had last month.  Boy, were we surprised!  Actually, I now wonder if the place was sold.  I think the cook used to work at MacDonald’s and it must have been the waitress’s first day.  The crab-cakes were more filler than crab-meat, the shrimp and scallops were overcooked and too few for the amount they were charging.  We were half finished our meal when the waitress got around to bringing the seafood and tartar sauce and Worcestershire.  And she never asked about dessert.

Today was an absolutely beautiful day.  I spent all afternoon sitting on the deck and knitting.  I took lots of pictures, but I put them on the other computer and then deleted from my camera.  You’ll have to wait until tomorrow, maybe.   It was Olive’s first time outside.  So, I took a picture of my sock progress just for you.

Happy to be Home

March 7, 2009

I love my children, but I am so happy to be back home.  I worry about them.  I’ll be glad when Win finds a job that he really likes instead of “just a job”.   Jenn has been having trouble with her periods.  Dr. T retired a couple years ago, but she has finally found someone else who gives her the care that we were so used to having with Dr. T.  He’s also a Hopkins doctor.  I’ll probably go back in a few weeks.

Here’s the yarn that I bought from Enchanted Knoll Farm in Maine.  It came when I left.  My not certain what I will make with it, but I really am very pleased with it.  It has a great feel and the colors are  so much better than this picture.

The heel is finished and I’m coming down to the toes.  I’m expecting my other sock club any day and I brought back sewing, knitting and crocheting to do.  My daughter can sew, but my machines do so much more than hers.  John keeps taking her fleece throw so she bought a piece for him and wants me to finish it the way I did hers.  She also wants me to change the sleeves on her tunic.  I  have a knit shirt from Win with some strange holes.  I guess it beats catching turtles for my grandson.

The snow is just about gone.  Each day has been getting a little warmer and I’m hoping to be able to sit outside this weekend.  I don’t think this is yet the beginning of Spring.  030209-050

I Had to Go

March 5, 2009

I’m in Reisterstown for  few days.  Sometimes, you just have to check on things.  My son called, so here I am.  I hadn’t seen my daughter for  while.  I haven’t been doing nothing much.  It snowed here, too.  It’s odd how you expect it to be different for some reason.  I managed to take a few pictures.

030509-008Here’s the creek on Tuesday morning before I left.  It was still very cold, but the sun was bright and there was much wind.     One of the roads that I usually take had not been plowed so I had to take state routes.  I probably could have taken the other road, but I didn’t want to get stuck.  I’m too old and creaky.

030509-015

Here’s Biscuit, my son’s kitty.  She’s adorable.  She likes to look outside, but has never gone outside.  You can leave the door open and she’ll look out, but that’s about it.

030509-012

We’re going to the Dutch Market tomorrow, so I may not be back until Friday.  I’ve gotten some work done on my socks, but not as much as I would like.

It Snowed

March 3, 2009

030209-016We had about four inches and it never got above freezing.  Zip went out, but the snow was too deep for him to get anywhere.  At least I didn’t have to out in it.

I worked on my second sock this morning.  I switched patterning on this one.  I keep having to take out stitches because I forget what I am doing.  I finally had the sense to copy the pattern and color the stitches and things are going better.030209-0262
