And I’m Back

February 9, 2008

I was going to wait until Saturday to leave, but I started thinking about how it is to wake up here. Every morning, I come into the living room and pull up the curtains to see what’s out there. I left around 8PM and I was home in less than two hours. Big Zip has gone to sleep on my hands, so please forgive my typing. My son has new shirts, pants, ties and a better haircut. We have yet to find someone worthy of a return.

Zip likes watching the creek too.

Still Here

February 9, 2008

I think I’ll be here until tomorrow, maybe Saturday. I’ve been throwing out stuff, washing rugs and cleaning the
bathroom. I also fixed three pair of his jeans. I’m on a roll. I might get a haircut. The place that I used to go to
is right down the street. I’ve gotten a fair amount of knitting done.

Trying to Relax

February 9, 2008

I swear driving over the Chesapeake Bay is always beautiful, but once I get to the other side, I am tense. I am happy in Delaware. When I was coming up 97 toward Baltimore, this van came right up on my bumper and stayed there. There was hardly anyone else on the three lanes so there was no reason for it. I was
in the left hand lane and doing 70. He obviously wanted me to move over. I stayed there and decreased my
speed. This did the trick. He backed off, moved over and zoomed past me. I then decided it was time to change lanes.

My son came home from school around 7. We went out for a bit to eat and then went over to Jenn’s. She was very happy with her gifts. Doug had found some Ralph Loren sheets for her on eBay. I had decorated a sweat shirt for her and made the table runner. She was very happy. We chatted for a good while. It was a very pleasant evening.

A Quicky

February 5, 2008
I am going up to Reisterstown for a day or two. When I go during the week, traffic isn’t bad at all. I want to give my daughter her birthday presents in person and pick up a few things. I hope to get back by Thursday. Sewing club is this Friday.

Nancy and Christine

February 5, 2008

I am really going to enjoy making the gloves and mittens for you two. Nancy picked a yarn that is fingering weight which is good because she lives in Phoenix where it doesn’t get really cold. Maybe I will make something lacy. Christine said to surprise her. So many things come to mind that I just don’t know what I am going to do. She has so much snow that she saw a horse drawn sleigh go by her house. I figure I could make anything because she probably needs mittens year round. But, seriously folks, I am thinking about doing twined knitting with some Noro orphans that I have lying around.

I only had to wear a sweater when we walked this morning. We walked way down the river. Gus smelled plenty of deer. I finally had to give him to Doug. He was so excited that he wouldn’t listen. I think he will always be a silly puppy. Not at all like my serious German Shepherds. Kevin doesn’t mind.

And The Winner Is

February 4, 2008
Here is Stacy who happens to own The Fine Needle in Snow Hill, MD, picking the winner. I’ll have to go there sometime. Check out her shoes. They are lime and her socks are pink and purple–my kind of colors.

Nancy!! She wins a pair of hand knit gloves in a yarn of her choice.

I was surprised that it wasn’t Christine. She had the most entries. So I decided that she should get the booby prize. A pair of hand knit mittens in a yarn of her choice. I’ll even throw in an index finger. Please specify right or left.

Here are your choices.

The four in the upper right hand corner is enough for one pair of mittens. I need your size. You could measure everything, scan your hand or draw around your hand. If you want these for a loved one, that’s fine, too.

Jealous Dog

February 2, 2008

This morning, as we were walking down the road, our neighbor, Linda, joined us with her dog, Sir. Gus was so upset that you could almost hear him muttering under his breath. He and Sir play together across our yards. He likes Sir, but this was his walk and he didn’t like any intruders. He walked along with his head down and his ears back until we crossed the road to the horse farm. Linda and Sir went on down the road because Sir does not like horses.

Gus leads such a rough life.

I put Zip’s medicine in his canned food last night and this morning. He is such a glutton that he didn’t even notice it. I didn’t think he would. I had tasted it and it has a mild bitter taste.

I didn’t do much of anything constructive today. Linda came over to rant about Mike, her imbecile asshole neighbor. It seems their flower-box is about two inches on his property. I told her she was lucky to have two in one. At my other house, I had an imbecile on one side and an asshole on the other. At least she gets to deal with two at the same time.

Happy Birthday Jenn

February 1, 2008
Today is my little girl’s 42nd birthday. I wanted to scan a picture for you, but my printer and I are not currently speaking to each other. Are you wondering who won the gloves? Well, you’ll just have to wait until Sunday. So, I am giving you two more days to comment. You see, it rained all morning and I didn’t want to go out. I have decided to have one of the other knitters in my group pick one out.

I finally made Christmas cake today. I felt so crappy around Christmas that it never got made. It is also known as raisin walnut spice cake with cream cheese frosting. We could call it birthday cake since it is Jenn’s birthday. She won’t be getting any unless she wants to drive 111 miles, but we will think about her as we eat it.

See the scale. I bought it to weight yarn, but it has lots of other uses. I was a pound off when I weighed the pans.

The original recipe called for three eight inch pans, but this made such a tall cake that it didn’t fit in my carrier. I finally found deep nine inch pans that work as well and they fit nicely in my carrier.

Yummy!

Here is my finished wimple. It hasn’t been blocked yet.

I used a heavier yarn and a size smaller needle and it turned out like I hoped. I like a warm neck.
