Stop in Catonsville

September 28, 2008

I stopped in Catonsville before I got to Reisterstown.  I needed a needle for class.  I was surprised that I didn’t have every single size and type in existence.  I also bought some yarn.  What can I say?  It’s hot pink and orange.  I’ll post a picture when I get back.  I also went to the fabric shop next door.  They had a lot of Laurel Burch Christmas fabric.  I bought two panels and some yellow.  When I got to the house, I called Doug and had him look for the directions for a wall hanging.  He said he really the fabrics and could I make a bed quilt.  I am not ready for that yet.  I haven’t finished the last one.

It rained all last night and I thought that it was over.  I wanted to get some fabric for new nighties.  I found three and decided to go to Parkville.  When I was about half way there, the skies opened again.  It poured while I was in the store and it was impossible see to drive.  I wanted to go to one more place, but I didn’t.  It wasn’t worth the effort.

Just A Quickie

September 26, 2008

I have decided to run off to Reisterstown for a couple of days.  My grandson has some bulbs for me.  They won’t be down until the third week in October and I want to get them planted before that.  I may do a little shopping.  I don’t know.  I hate paying 6% sales tax.  I am hoping to bring some Weber’s cider back with me.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

September 25, 2008

Little Maudie wants to play.  And she doesn’t want to hear anything about coming again another day.

I, on the other hand, managed to get a few things accomplished.  The quilting is finished and I cut, sewed, and ironed the binding.  I still have to sew it down.  Some knitting was also accomplished.

Going Out Tonight

September 24, 2008

So I thought that I would blog now.  I have a bunch of other boring crap that must be done, too.  We washed and hung everything out since it was so windy.  It all smells so good.  Darn.  I just remembered I didn’t wash any nighties.  Well, at least the sheets will be nice.

I have been trying to get my supplies for Stitches.  I bought yarn for the purse and some reading material.

Zippo helped with product placement.

Meatloaf

September 23, 2008

I made a meatloaf today.  I don’t do that very often.  It still bothers me to make it.  I made mashed potatoes and peas, too, which only made it worse.   I cried a little.  It was Louie’s favorite meal.  He also liked chicken pot pie and lasagna.

One time I was making chicken pot pie with some left over chicken and vegetables.  I made I lot more than my pot could hold when I put the biscuits on top.  Instead of getting out a big pot, I used another small one.  As I was getting the first pot out of the oven, I called everyone to supper.  Louie was up on the third floor and was the last one there.  As he walked into the kitchen, I was scraping out the first pot.  He said, with his lip sticking out, “At least you could have saved me a biscuit.”  I got the second pot out of the oven and sat it right in front of him.  I handed him the big spoon and said, “Take as much as you want.”  He had such a look of elation on his face!  I can still see him so clearly and hear his exact words.

I did not intend to talk about my first son here.  I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me.  Sometimes, I need to get my thoughts down.  You will be hearing more about him.  It helps.

PS–Elvis says thanks for the birthday wishes.

Happy Happy Happy Birthday Elvis

September 22, 2008

“Tell us, Elvis.  At the ripe old age of 18, what do you attribute to your longevity?”

“It’s simple.  I don’t run and I don’t jump and I get 22 hours of sleep every day.”

I’m too sexy for my body.

DelMarVa Geese

September 21, 2008

They may look like Canada geese, but they have never been to Canada.  Many generations ago, their ancestors came and never went back.  They fly  around in V formation in any direction and they honk their fool heads off.  But do they go anywhere?  In winter, their cousins come for a visit.  They all argue about the best place to live.  Then they poop all over your yard and kill your grass.  And you have to make sure your idiot dog doesn’t eat any of it, especially if he has a tender stomach.  It’s really hard to get out of the carpet.

Almost finished.  I’ll be glad.

Saturday

September 20, 2008

I tried to come with something better, but nothing materialized.  It’s been good sleeping weather.  Elvis is back to sleeping with us and now Zippo has joined him.  Maude prefers the dirty clothes basket.  She likes my quilt for naps.  Speaking of quilts, mine is almost finished.  Part six and five are done and were fun to do.  I have started on part seven.  If I can co-ordinate with Maude, I should finish it a few days.

Flu Shots

September 20, 2008

I have never had a flu shot.  I have never had the flu.  Why should I get a flu shot?  My doctor tells me I should get a flu shot.  My crazy ex-girlfriend’s husband used to bring the shots home (he’s a pediatrician) and try to give me one, too.  I can’t get myself to get one.  I am not afraid of needles.  I need a really good reason to get one.  No one has come up with that reason yet.  I guess I don’t want to tempt fate.

More Bricks

September 19, 2008

Yesterday, Doug bought 50 bricks to add to the wall at the basement door.  They’re big and curve out.  Today, we went back and bought some more of those and some flat 16 inch square ones for the front path.  The only trouble is the old ones are 18 inches.  He is going to bring the old ones up from in front of the basement door so the ones in front all look the same.  Are you bored yet?  Well, I am.

Here’s my glove progress.

And, here’s my quilt progress.
