Knitting in Snow Hill

November 17, 2008

Since we can’t knit at the bookstore, we went to the yarn shop in Snow Hill.  It took about an hour and a quarter to get there.  I looked around and bought some of those new square needles and a few skeins of yarn.  If it weren’t for group, I wouldn’t go there.  It was a nice shop.  She had good stuff, but it’s not near anything else that would give me a reason to head that way.  My little shadow purse is almost finished so I should have a picture in another day or two.

Little Olive is adjusting to her new home.  Maude watches her playing.  It’s just a matter of time before she will join in the fun.  Zip is still upset and he is mad at everyone so it will take him longer.  Gus, being the goofy idiot he is, scares the daylights out of Olive.  She has hit him several times.  He doesn’t understand.  All he wants to do is lick her all over.  Friday evening, when the neighbors were over, Paul was holding Olive.  Gus was so upset, he went over to Doug leaned against him and whined.  We all laughed at him which made things worse.

I took about a dozen pictures before I got this one.

I Think I was Busy

November 16, 2008

Not much was accomplished today.  I did things.  I just didn’t finish anything.  I hate that.  I honestly thought that I would complete my little knitting project from last Friday and be able to show it to you.  It didn’t happen.  Maybe tomorrow, but Idoubt it.  Knitting group is tomorrow so maybe I will.  I’m picking up Leslie and we are driving down to Snow Hill.  We’ve never been there so we are planning on getting lost together.  Maybe I’d better put an extra granola bar in my knitting bag.

New Einstein

November 14, 2008

I had palanned to show what I bought today, but I’m still disorganized.  At this rate, it’l be two weeks before I have recovered.  Then there’s Thanksgiving, shopping, Christmas and New Year.  So, I’m thinking maybe February.  It’s the middle of winter.  Sounds good to me.

In the meantime, I have all these unfinished projects.  I have one red sock, one shadow purse and one miniature sleeve to finish.  After that, I can get back to my star sweater.  But, my Einstein is finished—-I think.  At least I can’t think of anything else I currently want to do with it.  I put on another collar last night, decided it didn’t look awful and used the same stuff to add little cuffs.  They may not look like much, but the yarn is a wool, angora blend and it feels really soft.

The flowers turned out well and I even made a little flowered flower pot.

I still don’t know what to do with the back.  Maybe I’ll make some colored trees and remove the same colored ones.

This is about all I have for now.  I’m sure there will be more in the coming weeks.  I still have Stitches pictures to show.

I’m Home

November 13, 2008

I’m tired.  I’m going to bed.

Intercourse

November 12, 2008

Jenn and I had lunch in Intercourse PA today.  We had just finished shopping except for the meat.  The thrift shop was closed due to renovations so we checked a couple of different shops.  I bought some apples for pies and a bunch of other stuff that you can’t find elsewhere.  As a matter of fact, I’m munching on some flat pretzels now.

On the way home, we stopped and picked up the kitten.  She’s hiding in the back parlor so I put some water and

chow in there and a little blanket in a dark corner.  There is all ready a potty in there.  Win’s cat has no idea what she is.

When she saw her, she ran back upstairs.  I’m going to call her Olive.

Girls Day Out

November 10, 2008

I just got back from our semi-annual get together.  As usual, we had a great time.  Pat retired and has joined our little group.  She and I started at the VA on the same day, but she stayed until this year.  I really enjoy these ‘get togethers’ and I’m really happy that Diana always tries to coordinate them for when she knows I’ll be in town.  I’d come anyway, but don’t tell her that.

Carolyn asked if anyone wanted a kitten and I said yes knowing that any kitten from her would be special.  I’ve been wanting another one since The Myuush died last February.  This one is calico and likes to play with other cats.  She sounds perfect to me.  I would have followed Carolyn home, but the kitten belongs to a friend of hers and she has to call her and get approval.  I am leaving here Wednesday or Thursday and I really don’t want to leave without her.  I know little Maude would love her.  Zip’s nose will be out of joint for a while.  I’ll have to tell him that he is still the baby no matter what.  I am not even certain that Elvis would notice. I was so tired last night that I didn’t even knit.  I was “knitted out”.  I went to bed early and woke up at 7AM.

This computer is getting weird again.  I’ll try again tomorrow.

Sunday at Stitches

November 10, 2008

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 6AM for the third day in a row.  How did I ever manage to get up at 430 every morning and go to work?  I think money had something to do with it.

I don’t know why this computer does what it does.  I just have to live with it.

I had a great time and excellent teachers.  I’m sad that it is over, but I’m glad too.  I’m tired and I plan to sleep my fill tomorrow.

I’ll give you more details when I get home.

Now It’s Saturday

November 9, 2008

It was the first day of Beth Brown-Reinsel’s Danish sweater class.  I had a hard time getting used to knitting with two different weight yarns at the same time.  I would like to be further along.  I had hoped to get more done this evening, but I was too tired.  The computer seems to be working better, but I am really sleepy.  See you tomorrow.

Today is Friday

November 8, 2008

No. Really.  It is.  By the time I got home from Stitches, my son had gone off with his friends.  He forgot to turn

off the password and he didn’t get back until after I was asleep.  I hate this computer.  I had a fun class with

Vivian Hoxbro today on Shadow Knitting.  She said she is not going to teach it anymore and won’t be back to

the United States for a year.  She wants to spend more time at home with her grandchildren.  I can under stand

that.  She’s my age.  That’s about all I want to do on this @#$%$# computer.  More later.
