Compelled

November 11, 2009

I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it on the day before Thanksgiving, so i did it today.  I puttered around the house for a while, and even ironed a shirt for my son.  I finally went out around noon.  My first stop was the Joanne’s where I bought Christmas decorations and a magazine.  If I remember, I’ll talk about the magazine another time.  Then I rode over to Weber’s to buy Winesap apples and four gallons of cider.  We’ve tried many cider’s and Weber’s is the best.  I also bought cheese bread.

Finally I went to the cemetery.   I put a little heart and a tiny sparkly tree each on Nannie and Pop’s graves.  For my Louie, I had a little Santa and little presents, the same little heart and tree and a gold star.  I told them about the past year’s doings.  When I got in my car, I rode past twice, just to make sure it all looked good.  I made my way over to the office.  I wanted to know where my friend, Ray, was buried.  I had a little heart for him, too.

Oh, my.  That’s all I can say right know.

Girls Day Out

November 10, 2009

I went up to Reisterstown this morning.  It was time for our semi-annual get together.  There were five of us this time.  I was looking for Agnes, but she never showed up.  The Powers That Be have changed the road and put in a couple of those stupid round about things.  I understand the by-pass, but the other is down right ridiculous.  Two of the “girls” got completely turned and we were beginning to think they weren’t coming.  All in all we had a great time and I didn’t get back to the house until 430.  My son came home from work about 5 and we went out to eat.  Afterwards, we went shopping for clothes for work.  A Mom’s got to do what a Mom’s got to do.  I bought him a blender.  I don’t have much use for mine, but it’s not a separate unit.  Now I am going to try to do some knitting before bed.

Standard Time

November 8, 2009

It’s not even 6PM and it’s black outside.  I can’t stand it.  And it’s only November.  It was warm enough today to sit outside and knit today.  I had to stop around 330 because the sun was too low.  This bites.

Tomorrow I’m meeting the “girls” for lunch at the pizza place in Hampstead.  Wednesday, I’m going to Amish country with my daughter.

That’s it.  I have to pack.  See you.

Sewing Today

November 8, 2009

I just don’t understand why I find cutting out and sewing little squares together.  There is something else I don’t understand.  After carefully cutting, the pieces are not exact when sewn together.  Sometimes I wonder how I ever managed to make a queen size quilt.

Heat

November 6, 2009

We finally turned it on this afternoon.  We go through this every year.  Do we turn it on or grin and bear it?  It was all right when we were trying to clean for company this evening.  But then it was time to shower and my bathroom is cooler than the rest of the house.  And Flo kept trying to adhere herself to us.  So, you know where her vote went.  We did find one alternative.

110609 007There’s nothing like fleece to keep a gal warm.  She stayed in there for about two hours.  Do you think that if I made her a body suit, she would wear it?

New Purse

November 6, 2009

I couldn’t help myself.  Doug wanted to get new Reebok.  There is one style that he really likes so we went to the outlets by Rehoboth.  He bought two pairs.  I went over to Fossil.  I was going to look at wallets, which I did, but I saw a beautiful purse that I had to have.  Also, I got 20% off.  I guess I’ll have to take a picture.  I also bought a pair of  Skechers and slippers at LL Bean.  I did a lot better than when I went to Vernon Powell last week.

Next, we went to BJs.  They had the yogurt I wanted, but not the dish detergent.  I bought a big bag of Honeycrisp apples so I’m happy.  When we got home, Doug ate two pieces of raisin bread so I had one, too.  I wound up making pot stickers and mixed vegetables for supper.

More Baby Socks

I couldn’t decide on which picture to put up, so here’s both.  These were definitely the most fun to make.  And the color is great, too.110409 005These were esy to make, but I made a bad yarn choice on this one.  I also think they would have looked better if I had used a thinner yarn and smaller needles.  I still plan on making two more pair before going on to something else.

110409 007Here’s my new sock kit.  The varigated yarn is sparkly!  OOO!

It was only in the mid-fifties today, but it wasn’t windy.  We walked around the horse farm and then down to the river.  It was so beautiful sitting out on the pier.  And so quiet.  I loved it.  I love living here.

Two Cats in My Lap

It makes for very difficult blogging.  I’ve got two more baby socks to show you and some great pictures of Cora.

Suddenly, It Feels Like Winter

November 2, 2009

The damp, chilly air is getting to me and it’s dark by the time I start fixing supper.  Last week there were leaves on the trees.103109 006Now, there’s hardly any leaves left.  I can’t stand it.

I was going to blog every day this month, but I’ve all ready blown that.  I never even gave it a thought yesterday.  I can use the excuse that I was out most of the day, but I didn’t leave until almost 2PM and I was home by 830.  I’m still working on baby socks.  I’ve got three and a half pairs finished.  I also have another sock kit to make.

My Poor Bladder

October 31, 2009

I went back to the urologist yesterday.  I had no idea it was possible to put all that up a person’s bladder.  I’ve got to go back in a month.  This time I was given a gel to try.  It’s not supposed to have the side effects.  We’ll see.  I hate the ‘try this, try that’ business.

It’s very windy today.  I could have spent the day sitting on my neighbor’s pier out on the river.  It was so beautiful.  Some of the waves were so hard that it felt like someone or something was kicking the pier.

The girls loved chasing the leaves.  They were out all day.103109 003
