Is Spring Coming?

March 8, 2010

It was 55 degrees when we went for a walk this morning.  I wore a light sweater and no gloves and a cotton sunhat.  I was happy.  We’ve been able to walk down to the river for the past few days, but the trails at the horse farm are a mess.  They are almost impossible to walk on.  There are also several trees down in the woods and we have to make a detour to get through.  The owner is in Florida for the winter so we will have to deal with it until May.  I wish that I had brought my camera.

Maybe I’ll be able to put these away soon.  Flo won’t be happy.  She likes  ‘her’ sweaters.

Don’t get the meatloaf.  It wasn’t meatloaf.  It had cheap barbeque sauce on it and was put on the grill.  I assume this was done to give it some flavor as the inside looked like gray-brown mud.  When I think of the number of ingredients that can be put in a meatloaf to make it tasty and interesting to look at,  I was appalled. Maybe, I should add a page for my meatloaf recipe.   Also, the macaroni  and cheese was no better than you get out of a box.  At least, we weren’t charger for it, so Sweetums left a nice tip.  I was also offered a free dessert, but I had made a cake for later.

And, here’s dessert.  It’s a chocolate orange cake.  Last week as I waited in line at the supermarket, I picked up a cooking magazine.  It was “The Best of—–” and turned out to be so good that I bought it.  That’s something I haven’t done in years.  The cake was great.  We ate half of it.

My girlfriends and I went over to St. Michael’s this afternoon.

And a good time was had by all.  Maria is going to make this scarf –along with several other things.

I sewed the thing together, looked at it and tossed it out.  I decided that it should be twice as big.  I’ll fool with it another time.  I have a flag wall hanging cut out to work next.

My girlfriends and I are going yarn shopping tomorrow.  We had such a good time the last time.  I’m really looking forward to it.  We would have gone out last Sunday, but my car was sick.  Now, it’s fixed so we are going on a field trip.  Maybe this time I will remember to take pictures.

I have ten rows left to knit on the ‘Sweater from Hell’.  Maybe I’ll be sewing and cutting the skeet soon.

I hope that I am not boring you with the sewing, but I am trying to accomplish something.  After my dissatisfaction with the way that 2009 went, I am now trying to make up for it by completing projects.  Projects can be anything from a single piece of fabric to twenty skeins of yarn bought specifically for a sweater.   This will, however, be my last knitted item.  I am really getting tired of chasing around knits that refuse to hold still and will be working with nice, quiet, woven cottons for a while.  I  was thinking about making a Pointy Kitty if I can find the pattern again.  I think I saved it somewhere.  I really like having a computer to keep ‘stuff’, but I have been known to spend an afternoon looking through folders for the right file.  It is a continuing saga of trying to drive myself crazy.  After all, who knows better how to do it than me?

More Sewing

March 1, 2010

I have had three pieces of knit fabric for a while and decided to pull out and make something.  Two pieces cost me all of two dollars.  I got them when Wal-Mart was changing–which was very upsetting.  Anyway, the fabric is very hairy.  I have fuzz everywhere.  All the seams are finished, but I think I’ll still have to wash alone a few times.

This is my ironing board AFTER vacuuming.  I finally cleared it with my Pet Hair Lifter.
