It makes for very difficult blogging. I’ve got two more baby socks to show you and some great pictures of Cora.

October 7, 2009Doug got out the ladder to clean out the gutters and get the big piles of leaves that had settled in the corners of the roof. After he was finished, the roof inspector came.
After a long and hard look, she deemed it satisfactory. Her assistant also had a look around, but she refused to be photographed. Inspecting the border fencing was her level of expertise.
And the supervisor did what supervisors do best.
Direct TV or Dish Network
September 30, 2009I have been looking at ads, various levels of plans and what channels are offered. I just don’t know if one is superior to the others. I think that the best idea would be if I could pick and pay for just the channels I want. THAT would be great!

At least I have other things to watch.
First Day Out
September 20, 2009We let the girls out after coming home from our walk. Cora ran herself ragged and Flo had a great time, too.
Taking pictures of Cora was almost impossible.
They stayed around the deck, darting in and out and up and down and all around.
Zippo kept a watchful eye on them.
Olive kept trying to get them to come inside. They came in of their own accord after about two hours and everyone took a long nap.
I Joined Facebook
September 16, 2009Someone mentioned that it was a good way to find people. I wanted to contact my cousin’s daughters. She died several years ago and I have an album of pictures that I would like to give them. I found them when my mother died. There was a box in her basement full of Nanny’s things, most of which were clothes. There was also some albums. One was filled with pictures of my cousins and their parents. I thought that the girls would like them. I found their addresses in one of my mother’s books, but I never heard anything. My aunt, their grandmother, was still alive, but the information she gave me didn’t do any good. I found one name on Facebook. It wasn’t her, but the woman was kind enough to reply. I was feeling pretty sad, thinking these pictures are just sitting in a box here, that there is no one else to enjoy them. My cousin had the most beautiful eyes. And I know one daughter and her granddaughter also had those eyes.
I think I’ll look on Facebook for my other cousins. Their parents moved to Florida about forty years ago and I have only seen one of them since then. Maybe that will cheer me. I got a message from one of my friends from high school. She saw our guidance counsellor at the fair. This man was so nice to me when I was having problems. I truly believe that I would have quit school if it hadn’t been for him. I feel better now.

She’s not drunk. She’s sound asleep. But a cute kitten is good for my spirits.
Living in Lower Slower Delaware
September 3, 2009We were heading back to our drive after our daily walk when a car turned in and stopped. He lives next to the little path we take to the river. He invited us to walk down his driveway instead and sit out on his pier if we want. He must have driven down the road looking for us because he turned back toward his home when he left us. It’s just another reason why I love living here.
Yesterday we walked down his driveway. It’s a very smooth driveway compared to the gravel path. I don’t have to watch my feet and use my cane to keep from falling. The pier is really nice, too. There are two benches. It’s like sitting in the middle of the river. Doug and Gus don’t like the pier. They both were getting dizzy, so today, I went out on the pier by myself. The owner was there today and I made certain that he knew how much I appreciated it.
Why I have trouble blogging.

Cora Bora
Skunky
August 4, 2009I have been trying to take a picture of Flo with her Skunky for weeks. I finally got one this evening. She runs around with it in her mouth. She sticks it in a corner when she eats. And she talks to it. As wild as she is, I think she would be a good mother. She’ll never get that chance. I got her from a ‘No Kill’ shelter. She’s been spayed and that’s fine with me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the way to go. Look at these sweet faces. They deserve a long and happy life and we intend t give them one.

I Have One Opera Glove
July 1, 2009
I got to the elbow and decided not to go any farther. I stopped twenty rows short and made a six row knit1, purl 1 ribbing. The directions called for a tubular cast off which I didn’t bother with. It’s like a Kitchener stitch which I can’t stand. I bound off in rib. It looks good and still has plenty of give.
I’ve decided to start the next glove at the elbow and work to the fingers. If I have trouble weaving in the ends, then so be it. Except for one time when I fell and got a hole in the middle of a glove, I tend to wear holes in the thumbs and forefingers. So any repaired fingers will start at the base and end at the tips. It was interesting making fingers from the top down, but not practical.

Opera Gloves
June 25, 2009
Well, I’m really happy with the way these gloves are moving along. The directions are very good and I was pleasantly surprised when they said to sew the gaps and weave in the ends at this point. That’s what I was planning to do anyway. My only complaint is the chart. It’s too small. I have to look too closely. If it had been put on two whole pages instead of two half pages, it would be a lot easier to read.
Cora is a little pooky today. She sneezed a few times and she slept a lot today. Her apatite is good. I looked at her teeth. She’s teething.
