Compelled

November 11, 2009

I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it on the day before Thanksgiving, so i did it today.  I puttered around the house for a while, and even ironed a shirt for my son.  I finally went out around noon.  My first stop was the Joanne’s where I bought Christmas decorations and a magazine.  If I remember, I’ll talk about the magazine another time.  Then I rode over to Weber’s to buy Winesap apples and four gallons of cider.  We’ve tried many cider’s and Weber’s is the best.  I also bought cheese bread.

Finally I went to the cemetery.   I put a little heart and a tiny sparkly tree each on Nannie and Pop’s graves.  For my Louie, I had a little Santa and little presents, the same little heart and tree and a gold star.  I told them about the past year’s doings.  When I got in my car, I rode past twice, just to make sure it all looked good.  I made my way over to the office.  I wanted to know where my friend, Ray, was buried.  I had a little heart for him, too.

Oh, my.  That’s all I can say right know.

Girls Day Out

November 10, 2009

I went up to Reisterstown this morning.  It was time for our semi-annual get together.  There were five of us this time.  I was looking for Agnes, but she never showed up.  The Powers That Be have changed the road and put in a couple of those stupid round about things.  I understand the by-pass, but the other is down right ridiculous.  Two of the “girls” got completely turned and we were beginning to think they weren’t coming.  All in all we had a great time and I didn’t get back to the house until 430.  My son came home from work about 5 and we went out to eat.  Afterwards, we went shopping for clothes for work.  A Mom’s got to do what a Mom’s got to do.  I bought him a blender.  I don’t have much use for mine, but it’s not a separate unit.  Now I am going to try to do some knitting before bed.

Standard Time

November 8, 2009

It’s not even 6PM and it’s black outside.  I can’t stand it.  And it’s only November.  It was warm enough today to sit outside and knit today.  I had to stop around 330 because the sun was too low.  This bites.

Tomorrow I’m meeting the “girls” for lunch at the pizza place in Hampstead.  Wednesday, I’m going to Amish country with my daughter.

That’s it.  I have to pack.  See you.

H1N1 Virus

October 21, 2009

My daughter called earlier.  She, my son-in-law and my grandson are all just getting over it.  So I guess they never made it down to their trailer over the weekend.  She was looking forward to the three day holiday by the water.  My poor babies.

Zombieland

October 16, 2009

Monday, I drove to Reisterstown.  Nothing helps the spirits like a good zombie movie.  And this one was definitely one of the best.  The original Night of the Living Dead is still the best.  I took my son  and my grandson.  We had a great time.  Before the movie, we went to Carmine’s and had pizza.  When you go, be sure to stay through the credits.  There’s a neat little scene at the end.

I also got my son to look at my computer.  It caught a little virus Sunday.  It didn’t take him long and now it’s better than ever.  I’m so happy.  I don’t know what I would do without it.

It was a Sad Weekend

October 16, 2009

A friend’s husband died.  He was a good man.  It happened over three thousand miles away so I wasn’t able to hug her, hold her hand or wipe away a tear.  I started to think of my own loved ones that died too young.  I needed to do something for my friend.  I picked up my needles and knit all weekend.

I had a good laugh this morning.  Diana commented.  Yeah!

New Cat on the Block

October 9, 2009

It was almost too cool to sit on the deck and knit today.  I am almost up to the toe.  Maybe I’ll finish them tomorrow.  I’m a little depressed today.  A friend’s husband is not doing well.  I’m trying to be non-committal here.

I decided to call Agnes and invite her to Girls Day Out next month.  We had  a good chat and I felt much better for having called her.  She is going to meet me at my house in Reisterstown.  Hopefully, June will be able to come, too.  Since Diana reads my blog(and NEVER comments), I won’t have to e-mail her.

100609 023This guy has been coming by the last couple of days.  Well, he may be a her.  At first I was thinking abandoned cat, but when Gus barked at him, he headed for the recently rented house.  I felt better.  He seems to be fascinated with the water.  He likes to go down the steps at my bulkhead at low tide.  He stays down there for several minutes.  I’ve never seen any of my cats do that.

OK.  Back to knitting.  I am hoping to wear them tomorrow evening.

Onancock

October 1, 2009

Say that three times fast.  Leslie and I went down to check out a yarn shop in Onancock VA calls.  It’s only 83 miles from here so off we went.  We had a good time.  The shop was small, but they had a good variety.  It was far superior to Kitschy in Rehoboth.  I even bought a few skeins of yarn.  Then we headed down to the end of the road to the river.  There’s a ferry to Tangier Island.  Leslie was NOT interested.  As a matter of fact, this was as close as she would go to the water’s edge.093009 002It was a very pretty area.093009 003

We were getting hungry, but there wasn’t anything that we were interested in town.  We headed back up Route 13.  We started cutting over on old business routes and enjoyed lots of old houses and buildings and even a little railroad museum.  We finally found a family restaurant that looked good.  We were not disappointed.  And they had the best coffee.  We stayed for over two hours.  Everything was delicious and we ate every bite.  It’s called Parksley Family Restaurant on Route 13 in, where else, Parksley, VA.  Yeah.  We had gone along other little roads and wound at a place on the main road.  It didn’t matter.  It was a nice day.  We were having a good time.

Today, It Was The Podiatrist

September 29, 2009

Once in a while, I’ll get a cyst on the bottom of my foot.  I usually dig them out myself.  This one was on my right foot near my fifth toe.  I couldn’t turn my foot enough to get at it without pain in my hip.  After two years, I know how far I can stress my hip.  So, off I went to the podiatrist.  After an hour wait, he spent about five minutes digging it out.  Good thing I had my knitting.  I got an inch done on my socks.

My dear husband had a contractor come today.  We want to turn the back half of the garage into a hobby room.  It will be great to have all my stuff in one place and to able to have both my sewing machines out.  The back half of the wall in the family room by the garage will be removed and the whole area will have a wood floor.  There will also be a tiled laundry room.  So now my cheap husband is agonizing over how much it will cost.
