Home from La Boheme
February 28, 2018Last Saturday, we went to see La Boheme, a favorite of mine. And, obviously, for many others. It was played in two theatres. We were closer than I care to be, but in a very nice reclining chair.
Afterward, we got seafood. Win got shrimp and I had crab cakes which pretty good, but not as good as mine. They came with a terrible sauce that I took as an insult to the crab. The waiter saw me remove the sauce to the other side of the table. I told him exactly what I thought of it and to bring some Worcestershire. I like a bit. The sweet potato was good. The green beans were wallowing in butter.
On my way home, I stopped at Wegman’s. They have the Silk yogurt that I can eat. I bought Sweetums a loaf of crusty bread that he loves and two bags of my favorite oranges. I wish they were closer. I wouldn’t have to go anywhere else for food.
I also stopped at Cloverhill. I needed another ball of red yarn and I wanted to look around. Even though it has been through four owners, it has remained a great shop. And, of course, I bought more yarn.
Socks for me and Win. A sweater for my soon-to-be great-nephew.
Is It Time for another Pair of Socks?

I pulled out some sock yarn. And then, I pulled out some more. I have no idea what I want to do.
I need to finish that stupid hat. Last night, I realized that I had made a mistake in my decreases so took that row out. Then I found an extra stitch. Since it almost eleven o’clock, I stopped. Maybe I’ll finish it tonight.
New Cowl, Hood, Snood, Whatever

My daughter gave me this yarn in my Christmas gifts. It was sent mistakenly sent to her in an order and they said to keep it. Being partly acrylic, it’s not something that I would buy for myself. It is very soft so it has redeemed itself. The third skein is another colorway so I think I will make a hat with it. I thought about mittens, but they would not get much use. Besides, I like hats.
I Was Away
February 15, 2018How did this happen? My daughter loves musicals and my son loves opera. And I love both. And them too. I am one lucky Mother.
The Met simulcasts several operas every year on Saturday afternoons. I could go to Lewes by myself, but it’s much more enjoyable with someone else. This time, it was L’Elisir d’Amore, a romantic comedy by Donizetti. It was beautifully rendered. We had a great time.
Two days later: I’m still trying to catch up from this trip. It seems everything takes too long.
On the way home, I stopped at Cloverhill Yarn. I keep forgetting that they are open Mondays. This has always been a great place to shop even though it have been through four owners, I think.
Her is some of which I bought. There are so many wonderful things to make in my new West books that I believe they would last me until I die. Well. Except for socks. Maybe he’ll bring out a sock book. The neon mini-skeins are going to be socks, of course.
Olive is not certain she knows me.
New Project

This cowl pattern is in a book my daughter gave me for Christmas. She also gave me the variegated yarn. It was a freebie, but she had no use for it. The blue is Brown Sheep, one of my favorite yarns. After knitting on size one needles for the past few weeks, I needed to work on something with big needles. This pattern calls for DK and size six needles. I had worsted so I used size eight. I considered size nine needles, but they weren’t handy at the time. I had a shawl over my feet and a kitty in my lap keeping me warm. I really did not want to get up.
And here is the book she gave me. I’m also considering the medallion pull-over. There is also a hat, another cowl, sweater, vest and baby jacket that I like.
