What Day Is It?

October 2, 2008

Doug said we have to go to the supermarket tomorrow.  Wait a minute.  Didn’t we just go yesterday?  It feels like it.  No.  That was eight days ago.  How did that happen?   Sometimes I feel like I am living in two worlds.  People shouldn’t have two houses.  It’s too confusing.  I’ll be glad when my son is out on his own and the house is sold.  My underpants there are starting to dry rot.

Here’s the fabric I bought to make new nightgowns.

Gloves or socks?

Orange Crush is Finished

October 1, 2008

I am very happy to report that I finished my quilt today.  I am still in Reisterstown so no picture yet.  I put it on the bed.  It looks good.  Maybe the weather will be nice when I get home and I can hang it out on the line for a picture.

I got some framing prices for Win’s diploma and wound up at an art studio down the street.  I got just what I wanted and the price was a lot better than going through the school.  I think it looks better than what they had to offer.

Tomorrow, I will be heading home.  My leg still hurts from walking around on concrete yesterday.  I want to stop in Catonsville again and at another furniture store on the way home so I’m hoping I’ll feel better.  I also finished my gloves and will have pictures for you.  I had a nice visit, but I will be happy to get home.

Stop in Catonsville

September 28, 2008

I stopped in Catonsville before I got to Reisterstown.  I needed a needle for class.  I was surprised that I didn’t have every single size and type in existence.  I also bought some yarn.  What can I say?  It’s hot pink and orange.  I’ll post a picture when I get back.  I also went to the fabric shop next door.  They had a lot of Laurel Burch Christmas fabric.  I bought two panels and some yellow.  When I got to the house, I called Doug and had him look for the directions for a wall hanging.  He said he really the fabrics and could I make a bed quilt.  I am not ready for that yet.  I haven’t finished the last one.

It rained all last night and I thought that it was over.  I wanted to get some fabric for new nighties.  I found three and decided to go to Parkville.  When I was about half way there, the skies opened again.  It poured while I was in the store and it was impossible see to drive.  I wanted to go to one more place, but I didn’t.  It wasn’t worth the effort.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

September 25, 2008

Little Maudie wants to play.  And she doesn’t want to hear anything about coming again another day.

I, on the other hand, managed to get a few things accomplished.  The quilting is finished and I cut, sewed, and ironed the binding.  I still have to sew it down.  Some knitting was also accomplished.

Saturday

September 20, 2008

I tried to come with something better, but nothing materialized.  It’s been good sleeping weather.  Elvis is back to sleeping with us and now Zippo has joined him.  Maude prefers the dirty clothes basket.  She likes my quilt for naps.  Speaking of quilts, mine is almost finished.  Part six and five are done and were fun to do.  I have started on part seven.  If I can co-ordinate with Maude, I should finish it a few days.

More Bricks

September 19, 2008

Yesterday, Doug bought 50 bricks to add to the wall at the basement door.  They’re big and curve out.  Today, we went back and bought some more of those and some flat 16 inch square ones for the front path.  The only trouble is the old ones are 18 inches.  He is going to bring the old ones up from in front of the basement door so the ones in front all look the same.  Are you bored yet?  Well, I am.

Here’s my glove progress.

And, here’s my quilt progress.

I Almost Put on Long Pants

September 17, 2008

But I managed to suppress the urge.  I did opt for a long sleeve shirt after our walk this morning.  We had some rain, but we had to turn on the sprinklers when the tide came up.  I jumped to part six on my quilt plan.  It’s definitely more fun than part five.  I”ll get back to it after part six.  Then, it’s on to the binding.  I should also make a label.  I’ve got two I made up for other stuff so maybe I’ll just have to change the date.

The gloves are growing a finger.  I am really getting good at fixing errors, but those tiny stitches are making me crazy.  A dropped stitch can get lost quickly.  I’m glad I mentioned the changes on the first glove in this blog.  It helps.  I’d like to knit faster.  I can’t get any speed with these tiny needles.  At times, I feel like I have been knitting a whole sweater.

That’s Much Better

September 16, 2008

It is so much nicer outside today.  We went for a really long walk.  I’m looking forward to sleeping with the windows open tonight.  Mary is getting braver and I got some nice shots of her this morning.

I sat out back for a while this afternoon and knitted.  I’m just about ready to start the fingers.  i will be glad when these are done and I can go on to something else.

I laid my quilt to get a better look at it and decided that it doesn’t look bad at all.  I didn’t work on it today.  Too nice outside.

Too Humid to do Anything Outside

September 15, 2008

I worked a long time on my quilt, probably too much.  The last lines don’t look good and I may take them out and do something different.  I did finish part three and I decided that part four was unnecessary.  I started on part five, but I should not have.  I was getting tired and it’s messy.  Maude, however, does agree that I should have stopped earlier.  She would have had more time to sleep.

Mary was out for a while this afternoon.

I knit for a while this evening, but it doesn’t look too good either.

My Feet are Cold

September 11, 2008

The temperature drops below eighty and my feet get cold.  I could have put on a pair of my wool socks, but I was being lazy and I went with closed toe shoes.  I don’t think it went much above seventy today.  I had to put on a long sleeved shirt when we went to the supermarket.  I’m still running around in shorts though.  I really shouldn’t.  I have arthritis in both knees.

I worked on my quilt for a little while today.  I’m about three quarters of the way through part two.  I got some quilt stuff in the mail today.  The book looked interesting and I have two little projects to work on when it’s too cold to go out and play.
