The back was finished, so I dragged my batting. Dot was not much help. She kept falling asleep. She liked the fleece, but I would have had to piece it in two places. I got out the Warm and Natural. I didn’t really want to use it, but it’s 96 inches wide, so, no seaming. Now, there’s only two yards left. I’ll have to order some more soon. I hope to get the quilting accomplished tomorrow. We’ll see.

Maggie Pi said so. Maybe tomorrow. I still need to finish the door draft thingy. I finally found tiny locking bags to put the poly-pellets in. I need to fill eighteen of those little suckers. I hope I have enough. Then, there’s the hand sewing. Will they be ready for Christmas? Not if I get any more cat help.
My new gloves. I love to knit gloves. It’s the only way I can get them to fit. And, of course, switching colors like these if so much fun.

There was just enough yarn left to make a hat. The main part of the hat is reverse stockinet with changing yarns every row. I used the last of the yarn to make a few worms. I’m very happy with it. I should write down the pattern before I forget.

Ruthless Ruthie is at the vet’s getting her hysterectomy. The others are getting some much needed rest and relaxation.

My Hallowe’en socks are coming along. I’ve finished the entrelac cuff and started on the heal. The cuff was slow work and all the black slowed me down. The rest should go quickly.

And I would like to thank Jaala Spiro at Knitcircus for making this yarn for me. And she didn’t even want extra for it. I’m so happy.

I never get rid of an old sweater. First of all, I’ll mend it. But one can only do so much mending. And, let’s face it, sometimes you get sick and tired of it. It happens. At my house I have what I call the sweater chair. It’s high and sits next to the glass door and a heat duct. It’s the perfect spot for kitties.

My old one went ‘somewhere’ when we moved. I thought, I really don’t need one anymore. Then, last week, while getting my hair done, the rain came down in buckets. Even though I was parked right outside the door, I didn’t want to chance it. A hooded raincoat would have been nice. My favorite quilt shop was having a sale. I bought Amy Butler’s raincoat pattern, but I didn’t like any of their laminated fabric. I started looking elsewhere. I had no idea there were so many. I spent about two hours looking yesterday and another hour today and I still haven’t made up my mind. You know it can’t be ordinary. Totally bizarre is probably my best bet—less likely to get run over. I don’t know. I don’t know. I think I’ll go knit.
Out on the deck, of course.

This is Ruth. She is named after my Aunt. We found her Tuesday morning while walking the dog. After spending all morning trying to find a place to take her, I took her to the vet’s. What else could I do? I’ve got other animals to think about. Doctor Mike doesn’t take appointments. Just sign in before Noon and you’ll be seen. I always take my knitting and a bottle of water. Ruth was de-wormed, de-fleed, de-ear mited and shot. She was also x-rayed do to a limp. She has a broken leg, so I guess she is mine forever. You’d never know it the way she runs around. Naming her Ruth is appropriate. My Aunt Ruth lost the use of one eye and Little Ruthie has lost the use of one leg.

Last evening, we shut off the air conditioning and opened windows. I love real air and I slept very well. The humidity has remained low so we’ve enjoyed 24 hours of fresh air. Sweet Baby Rue spent the night out. He loves the cool breezes on his fur. And what did he do all day? He got to sleep all day on the porch. He was a happy boy.

The latch broke. I can’t complain. The old one was over ten years old. Actually, it’s a blessing. I noticed his name tag was too worn down to read. Now he has a new collar and tag in case he gets lost. He’s a little tired now. He had to show it off to all his friends. He thinks he’s beautiful.
My projects have not been going smoothly this past week. I’m not certain whether I had three migraine headaches or a three-day migraine headache. My head was so full of mush.

Sweetums was nice enough to clear a path for the cats.
I’m not a fan of winter. It wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for ice and snow. And cold. My hundred and forty year old knees make it very hard to get around. Other than the supermarket, I haven’t gone anywhere. Not even a doggie walk. It’s the only disadvantage to living on a little tree-lined road.
Even my sewing has suffered. Here’s something I could have made when I was eight. Maybe I did make something like this. It’s been over sixty years since I first learned to sew. I can’t remember everything. I do remember Nannie drawing flowers on a handkerchief and showing me how to embroider them. It was before I learned to read and write. I had the BEST grandmother.
My knitting is suffering also. These are all no-brainers.
A hat for my big headed son.
Slippers for my daughter. Currently, I am making cat pods. Then I’ll throw them all in the washer to felt. Whoopee.
