Here she is. Queen Flo, aka Sheena Warrior Princess, looking down her nose at me. I tell her she is just common brown tabby, but she refuses to listen. She has been this way ever since I made her own wool hand knit pad. She knows she is special. No other cat has ever sat on it. She will not allow it. (And I have the rest of the island to myself. I didn’t think it would work so well!)

August 23, 2017Summer Socks
August 21, 2017These aren’t summer socks. These are socks I knit this summer. They are for my daughter. She saw the yarn and her eyes popped. Not only is this her favorite color, it sparkles. What’s not to love? I still need her to try them on. Her feet are longer than mine. More socks will be coming.
On the sewing front, my bedroom runners are almost finished. I still have a few squares left. I might make a new cover for my tablet.
They Are Not All Winners
August 19, 2017I bought a yarn kit. The yarn was beautiful. I also knew the price was half as much as retail. I made the cowl. I tried it on and looked at myself. It wasn’t right. I asked a friend and my best critic, my daughter, and they agreed.
So I took it apart and made this pretty scarf instead. It’s completely reversible.
Lacey Sweater
August 18, 2017I could not get a decent picture of this sweater. I took several and I don’t like any of them. Oh! And now, I notice this doesn’t have the buttons and it isn’t blocked. It really is a lovely sweater. The yarn is lace weight making it perfect for cool evenings. It felt like I was knitting it forever. I’ve got to make something with thick yarn on big needles. I need a little instant gratification.
Bronchitis Sucks
May 26, 2017I am currently on my second course of medication for bronchitis. I am completely wiped out. About all I have accomplished is sock knitting . I have not worked on my quilt at all! I can’t stand it! I need to block my new sweater! Sweetums needs some shirts fixed! I want to make myself a new summer dress! I want to bake something delicious!
Here’s a little something I did before I got sick. My favorite tote was falling apart. The orange fabric is new. It also, now, has a strong bottom.
Christmas is Over
May 19, 2017Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Christmas. I don’t know which I enjoy more.
On Thursday, I took two classes with Lily Chin. What did I learn? I’m still wondering. I took her class on the advise of a friend. I found her to be quite unprofessional. I think she thought she was being “cute”. Even though she was reminded several times by students that there was a child in class, she continued to speak inappropriately. I kept thinking, “I came two days early for this?”
Franklin Habit was a completely different story. He was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. I learned something new. I got some great ideas. It was over long before I wanted. That evening I made a swatch of the chart I made and I really like it. And, now, I can’t find it.
The afternoon class was on garters and I-cord. That one caused me to look at things differently. It was so nice to really learn something. He also discussed some pocket applications. I hope he comes back.
After class, I walked down to the main hall. I needed some DK yarn and Shelridge always has a wide range of colors. I’ve bought yarn from them several times and never been disappointed.
I realize that these look bland for me, but I have some animals to make.
I also visited my favorite broche person, Liz Printz. One of mine needed some work and she was happy to comply.
Getting Ready for MD Sheep & Wool
April 27, 2017I’m taking two classes each on Thursday and Saturday with Lily Chin and Franklin Habit respectively. It should be interesting and, hopefully, fun. I believe that I should never stop learning. Otherwise, I might as well curl up into a ball and vegetate. I have done my homework and gotten all my supplies together. I needed several balls of worsted weight in solid or semi-solid colors, mainly light. It wasn’t easy. I like to work with finer yarns. Currently, I making a sweater using lace weight.
I also made a list of the DK yarn I need to get from Shellridge Farm. They have great yarn. I few years ago, they moved their booth. I almost fainted.+
Still Raining
April 25, 2017Even though it was raining, Sweet Baby Rue had to check on the geese. I didn’t think there was that much room in our little pump house.
At least he had enough sense to seek shelter.
I found backing for my Splendid Sampler. The print is 104″ by 88″ and my quilt is 106.5 by 106.5 so I had to get the orange to add a border.
It was time for my machine to have a check-up. It was getting a little laud. Time to get out my embroidery machine and make a label.
The goose babies hatched early this year. The warm winter was probably the cause. I don’t think I will ever tire watching them.
On the knitting front, I decided to try this mitten kit. I liked not having to weave all the ends. I didn’t like having to constantly watch where the colors changed and trying to adjust my tension. They are knit on size 2 and I would have preferred size 0 or even 00 with this yarn. My daughter said the little kids on her bus will get a kick out of them, so she was happy. Isn’t it all that really matters. I also bought a sock kit that will quite different when finished. There is no way that I am going to use size 2 needles for socks.
Lunch and a Movie
January 20, 2017Instead of getting together to knit and bitch, we decided on lunch and a movie.
Okay. This was started last Friday, but life got in the way again.
The week before, I mentioned how much I had enjoyed ‘La La Land’. We met for lunch at a nearby chain restaurant. It was okay. The other two seemed to be very happy with theirs. I guess that I expected something more interesting.
Thrusday Afternoon with Friends
January 6, 2017Some knitting is accomplished. But mostly we bitch about everything under the sun. We had a great time. It’s so nice to have friends of like minds.
