Washed Mitts

February 5, 2009

Here are my washed mitts.  Do you notice something odd?  It has nothing to do with the camera angle.  The left mitten is definitely shorter than the right.  I didn’t notice it last night.  I don’t think I can get the right one on my left hand, so I’ll use it as a washcloth.  I’m fixing baked salmon, roasted red potatoes and asparagus with something.  I haven’t rummaged in the refrigerator yet so see what I have lurking there.  You may ask if I have a dishwasher.  Well, I do, but I like to wash dishes.  It’s quiet thinking time.  I also worry about my pre dishwasher era dishes and my sterling silver.  What’s the reasoning behind having nice things and not using them?  If you come to my home for lunch or a big dinner, you’ll see the same plates and utensils.  Well, the tablecloth will be different.

Nordic Mitts

January 31, 2009

I had planned to have both finished by this time, but it’s been a weird week.  And I’ve been especially grumpy.  It happens.  I haven’t even spent much time on the computer and really have things that I need to do.

After I took these pictures, I realized that you can’t see the designs up the sides.  These mittens are so beautiful that I may actually wear them.  After all, I am a glove person.  I learned some new techniques and I hope to make another pair using my own design.  I was looking at Beth’s patterns today and I found something I think my daughter would like.  The only things is I don’t have the right yarn.  I found something I could use at Knit Picks so I ordered two books too.   They are having a 40% off books sale, but they didn’t have everything I wanted.
