Since I know I will be spending many hours hand sewing, I decided to try to catch up on all my unread emails. Here it is late afternoon and I am finally under one hundred left to read. I hope to finish in under four days. I wish I could sew in the evening, but I always get a nauseous headache. I don’t know why. I can knit and watch TV at night. Speaking of knitting, I have been working on Babar’s royal cape. Ten inches of stockinet is making me crazy.

Little White Riding Hood
January 20, 2018I don’t know how this happened. My little red hiding hood is white on a red background. Somehow, I managed to cut out and sew together all those little pieces without realizing what I had done. I even sewed it to Grandma’s house and the trees. Did I forget to take my medication? Or did I take too much? I know I wasn’t high. I can’t do that anymore. Now, you may think, “Why not make it over again?” No way! It’s staying that way. I am not cutting out all those fiddly little pieces and sewing them together again!
Busy Week
September 5, 2017Last week, I never seemed to have the time to write. My daughter stopped by for a short visit. She seems so very happy these days. The last two years have been pretty hard for her. It is so great to see those big brown eyes sparkle again. Mothers worry.
My son came by on Friday. He had been in Ocean City for the week. He said he had a lot of fun. He even went parasailing with a friend. This really surprised me. He is very near-sighted (like me before cataract surgery) and tends to be cautious.
My new rug finally came and I love it and so does Don. I also got a runner for the foyer. Sweetums is so tickled with it, he wants a small one for the back door. I wonder how long it will take to get here.
I am also making a dress. I’ve been wanting to make this all Summer. It’s supposed to be cooler the next several days. Will I get a chance to wear this year?
Quilted Scarves
August 27, 2017These are done. I am so glad! I have four squares left. I thought about making covers for my tablet and phone. That just seemed like too much. I am so sick of these that I believe I will add them to the bottomless pit most people would call a spare bedroom. There is a single bed in there under three feet of ‘stuff’. We have a queen size sleeper sofa so its unnecessary. I think there is a quilt on it, so I might dig that out one of these days.
I decided to make myself a dress. I looked through my fabric stash and pulled out some cotton fabric with pink flamingoes on it. Even though it’s late Summer, that is my next project.
Happy Happy Joy Joy
August 14, 2017My Splendid Sampler is finally finished! I am so sick of it. Sweetums says it’s perfect. Flo, aka Sheena Warrior Princess, has already christened it with a hairball. Oh well. Since I still have about three dozen squares, I’m making covers for the bureaus and night stands. Too tacky? But, really, I finally feel like blogging again. I no longer have the constant feeling that I will never finish it.
Bronchitis Sucks
May 26, 2017I am currently on my second course of medication for bronchitis. I am completely wiped out. About all I have accomplished is sock knitting . I have not worked on my quilt at all! I can’t stand it! I need to block my new sweater! Sweetums needs some shirts fixed! I want to make myself a new summer dress! I want to bake something delicious!
Here’s a little something I did before I got sick. My favorite tote was falling apart. The orange fabric is new. It also, now, has a strong bottom.
Still Raining
April 25, 2017Even though it was raining, Sweet Baby Rue had to check on the geese. I didn’t think there was that much room in our little pump house.
At least he had enough sense to seek shelter.
I found backing for my Splendid Sampler. The print is 104″ by 88″ and my quilt is 106.5 by 106.5 so I had to get the orange to add a border.
It was time for my machine to have a check-up. It was getting a little laud. Time to get out my embroidery machine and make a label.
The goose babies hatched early this year. The warm winter was probably the cause. I don’t think I will ever tire watching them.
On the knitting front, I decided to try this mitten kit. I liked not having to weave all the ends. I didn’t like having to constantly watch where the colors changed and trying to adjust my tension. They are knit on size 2 and I would have preferred size 0 or even 00 with this yarn. My daughter said the little kids on her bus will get a kick out of them, so she was happy. Isn’t it all that really matters. I also bought a sock kit that will quite different when finished. There is no way that I am going to use size 2 needles for socks.
Quilt Top is Finished
April 3, 2017I didn’t think it would take this long. Originally, I was going to make two, but Sweetums talked me into one. It’s really big. Now I can take my machine to the shop. I’m so glad I have two. It deserves a special label.
Trying to get the whole into one picture was impossible, so I took two. Maybe I’ll get Sweetums to help me hang it up outside.
