All is Forgiven

July 6, 2010

This morning, she talked to Skunky and carried him around the house.  When it was time for ‘cafe au lait’ (minus the cafe), she brought him in to have some.

I have got about six rows of squares to go on the second sock.  I want to go on t o something else.  It’s too hot to do anything big, so I’m thinking gloves.

Skunky was Lost

July 5, 2010

Flo spent a lot of time looking for him.  She even asked us to look, but we didn’t have any luck either.  And, then, when Doug was getting out his good shoes, there was Skunky, sleeping in his shoes.   He showed Skunky to Flo.  Was she happy?  No.  She is mad at Skunky for hiding.  Poor Skunky.  He is just laying there in the hallway.

Beautiful Day

July 1, 2010

When I got up this morning and opened the back door for Flo, I was hit with a marvelously cool breeze.  I  made myself a cup of coffee and went to worry Doug out of bed while I dressed.  We walked around the horse farm without sweating from every single pore.  It was so beautiful sitting out on the pier over the Nanticoke.  When we got home, I took my breakfast out to the deck and watched the ducks.  I had al ready opened all the doors and windows to air out the house.  The girls also love the cooler weather.  They played tag for hours and were in early to sleep.  It is getting down to 58 degrees tonight.  I can hardly wait for a good night’s sleep with the windows open and real air coming in.

Been Busy

June 28, 2010

It’s been too hot to do much of anything outside this weekend.  We took Gus for his walk first thing in the morning and spent the rest of the day inside working in the yarn room.  I looked into every bag and box.  Now, I’ve got two more bags to give to Goodwill and five for  my friends if they want any of it.  I still have more than I’ll use in my lifetime, but it’s too nice to give away.  I may put some of it on Ravelry, but I’m not ready for that decision.  Maybe after the room is finished.

Flo was not helpful.  As a matter of fact, she said we were bothering her.

I have finished one sock.  It’s been fun.  I changed a couple of things including making a shorter leg.

Babies are Pooky

June 23, 2010

They went to the cat torturer today and got two shots.  Flo weighs six pounds and Cora weighs eight.  I have been trying for over a week to get them to the vet.  Doug doesn’t help matters any.  When a cat is at the door, he opens it without a thought in his head.  I am so glad that I don’t have to make an appointment.  Otherwise, I probably would have killed my husband by now.

They had a hard time staying awake  the rest of the day.

Last Thrusday

June 9, 2010

We went to Carodan Farm Wool Shop in Chincoteague Island, VA.  Betty wanted to exchange some yarn and Leslie and I went along for the ride.  It’s a very nice little shop and we will definitely be going back.  I was really happy to see Panda Silk, Panda Cotton and Panda Wool.  They all make great socks.  They had a great collection of sock yarns, but I resisted the urge to buy everything.  Betty found some nice cremsickle cotton for her top and Leslie was very happy with all the Addi Turbo needles.  Afterwards, we rode around the island for a while, then decided on Bill’s Seafood Restaurant for a late lunch.  Even though we didn’t get seafood, we had a great and cheap lunch.  The sandwiches were hearty and the coleslaw was the best I have ever tasted.   The waitress was great so we left a nice tip.

I forgot my camera so here’s Cora enjoying the new hardwood floor.  It feels so good on a hot day.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find Kiss My Face products at Wal-mart today.  I don’t currently need anything, but I got lip balm and a travel kit to take with me when I go to Bismarck, ND.

Is It Saturday All Ready?

June 6, 2010

Where did the week go anyway?  It is so hard to blog when it’s so hard to stay in for any reasonable amount of time.  Then there are so many other things that need to be done.

This is Dot.  She is one year old and will gladly give you her opinion on everything.  Her former owner was “allergic”.  Dot is the one with allergies, but it’s not bad — just an occasional runny nose or watery eye.  She has been going outside for two weeks and she really likes it.  She will come and get you and holler at you and lead you  to the door.  She is really good about coming in when it’s dark unlike some cats we know.  Why did we get her?  We wanted another cat.  That’s it.

I’ve been working on the sweater.  It doesn’t look anything like the original.  I wish that exact lengths were given rather than “desired length”.

It was really hot this afternoon so I started a pair of cotton entrelac socks.  Sorry for the poor picture.  I should have used my other camera.

Little Flo

May 31, 2010

Last week, she was gone for 48 hours.  Doug and I were devastated.  She is a personality plus kitty.  I keep telling her she is just a little tabby cat and of little import so she decided to go for a walk.  Little brat.  A male cat had been coming around and managed to herd her away.  She is a very friendly cat and if the other cat’s owner did something like offer her some milk, she would have walked right in.  She also likes to help the neighbor take in her groceries.  If the other people tried to keep her in, they probably let her out because she drove them crazy.  When she came home, she was so happy.  She ran around the yard playing with the other cats, even Dot whom she hates, but that’s another story.  Later, she played with Skunky for a long time.  She went to bed early and got up late.

Yeah. I Know.

May 30, 2010

It has been so beautiful all week.  By the time I was ready to blog, I was too tired to think.

My daughter came by last Sunday afternoon and brought me this great gift.  It’s a bird house by Jim Shore, but I have no intention to hang it outside.  My son-in-law had taken his ’67 Camaro to Cruising Ocean City.

I’ve been working on this sweater all week.  I took this picture this afternoon.  It’s finally starting to look like something.

Well, I gotta go.  Hell  Boy II is on.  Maybe I’ll talk about Dot next time or why Flo is making us crazy.

Finished Hopscotch Socks

May 24, 2010

Another great pair of socks!  Six down.  Six to go.  I finished these on Saturday.  I had hoped to finish them sooner, but the weather has been so great.  I’ve been planting flowers.  I have eight hanging baskets on my deck and six other planters to fill.  All the colors of flowers make me feel so good.  I still have three pots to fill and several Impatiens which I scatter around.

Dot says the flowers smell really nice.

I started the February Lady Sweater on Sunday.  It’s pretty boring and mindless so far, but if I can live through the yoke, I’ll be OK.  I hope that the author is correct on the yardage.  I have about 300 more yards than needed and I want to make the sleeves longer.  I don’t want to be disappointed.  I originally wanted to make a Louisa Harding sweater, but the yarn was inappropriate.  The yarn I’m using is at least fifteen years old that I bought because Doug liked it.  And now, I am finally getting around to knitting something with it.  Don’t listen to your husband while looking at yarn.
