What Can I Say? Another Great Day

August 21, 2008

I don’t think it got up to 80 today.  The geese seem confused.  Little groups of them are flying around in different directions with their horns blasting.  Can you imagine what they’d be like if they had drivers licenses?   I would like to say something about Canadians here, but I won’t.

As you can see, much progress was made on my gloves.  I even made it through the dreaded thumb gusset.

Finished Quilt Back

August 20, 2008

It was hot again today so I was able to finish my quilt back.  And it is the exactly right size.  Sometimes, I am so good, I can’t stand myself.  It isn’t even a 1/4 inch off anywhere.  Now, I have to sandwich it together, which sucks.  It means I’ll have to completely clean off my cutting table.  Trying to do it on the floor would kill me.  I also have to decide how I am going to quilt it.  I never done anything this big before.

Doug is not stomping on Gus.  He is about to rub his belly.  No wonder he follows him everywhere.

Only a Few Lines

August 19, 2008

It’s much hotter today.  We put the air conditioning on shortly after getting up this morning.  We took Gus down to the river and walked back through the woods in an effort to keep out of the sun.  I only did a few rows of knitting as it was too hot to sit outside until evening.  I did, however, work on my quilt back.  I may be able to put it together in a few days.  Don’t hold your breath.  That’s about it for today.

Sleeping Maude

Sleeping Maude

I was supposed to do something, but I don’t remember what it was.  Oh, well.  Can you have hot flashes when everything has been removed?  I never really had them so I don’t know.  Maybe senility is finally setting in.  I know I called my daughter this morning.  My phone says so.  Why hasn’t she called me back?  She’ll probably call when I’m on the toilet.  She’s good at that.  Maude is here, sleeping under the desk lamp making little sucking motions with her mouth.   Her fur is so warm.  She’s making me hot.

Progress was made on the gloves today.  Here’s a picture.  Doesn’t it look much better?

A Good Day for Ducks

August 17, 2008
happy ducks

All day long, there have been ducks splahing about in the creek.  It was a beautiful day, but warmer.  We finally put the air on at noon, but it will probably be off again by bed time.  It’s so nice to have the windows open and be able to hear the outside noises.  It really has been a great week.  Yesterday was the first time all week that we had the air conditioning on and that was because Doug was not well.  He is so much better today and he has something in case it happens again.  I am so glad that’s all it was.  He’s a pain in the ass, but he’s all mine.

Here’s the latest picture on my gloves.  I’m much happier now.

A Visit to the ER

August 16, 2008

We were getting ready to go for a walk when Doug got vertigo so badly that he couldn’t stand up.  We managed to get him to a chair and I took his blood pressure.  It was a little high and he was sweating profusely.  I wanted to to take him to the ER, but he said to call the doctor.  And what did the doctor say?  “You better take him to the ER.”    After blood work, EKG and other crap, the doctor gave him a prescription and let him go.  It took less than two hours.  But it still screwed up the day.  Doug was exhausted and slept for a couple of hours.  The dog didn’t get a walk until the middle of the afternoon.

The Gloves are Gone

August 15, 2008

I worked on my gloves for an hour or two this afternoon.

I kept looking at it.  I looked at it several times.  I was not happy with it.  I finally said the hell with it and tore it out.  I restarted it and I will have a progress report tomorrow.

Food Lion products

August 14, 2008

FOOD LION MAKES THE ABSOLUTE WORSE MACARONI SALAD I HAVE EVER TASTED.  And their seafood salad if pretty awful, too.

We went down there to pick up a few things.  They had tuna steaks and mahi mahi on sale.  The tuna was great by the way.  Jenn had given me about 20 crabs which I had picked the day before trash day.  I was making crab cakes and I wanted some macaroni salad go with it.   The store in Reisterstown has very good macaroni and potato salad and different kinds of each.  This store had one of each.  I didn’t like it’s colorless appearance, but Doug said it can’t be that bad so I got it.  Even the macaroni noodles were awful.  They were bigger, thicker and doughy.  They were gross.  There was a lot of cheap mayonnaise and little else.  So—-tomorrow is trash day and guess where the macaroni salad is.  I still have the seafood salad.  I was able to doctor it to passable if not eaten alone.

Well, the pleasant continues to hold, even though it was a bit more humid today.  The gloves are coming along.  I tried to take a picture of it on my hand, but I didn’t have much success.

No Power

August 13, 2008

I was happily knitting on my never ending sweater and watching TV when the power went out.  It just recently came back, but I have forgotten what I was going to say.  I noticed that there was only one picture on yesterday’s blog so here is what was missing.

Gloves, Elvis and Antibiotics

August 12, 2008

We’ll start with the gloves.  I have finally gotten through the thumb gouging thumb gusset and am working on the second row of blocks.

Elvis really likes his new chair.  He even lets Doug sit with him.
I am so sick of taking antibiotics.  I feel worse when I am on them then whatever disease or bug or whatever causes me to have to take them in the first place.  Doug said something about calling the doctor to see if I needed another urine test.  I ignored him.
