I’ve been putting this scarf to good use. The pattern called for fingering weight yarn, but I used two and three strands of lace weight to get the colors I wanted. I can put it over my head and wrap it around my neck twice and I’m good to go.
My New Favorite Scarf

January 18, 2018I Had to Step Away
January 17, 2018I was dealing with too much sh*t. I couldn’t write without the aggravation coming through. I do not like being that way. I decided that it was best to wait. I didn’t plan on taking so long. Hopefully, I am back.
Here is the view from my window last week.

New Dress
September 9, 2017
The pattern was very well written. I will definitely get more from Snapdragon. It’s a little bit big, but it’s a summer dress. When I make it with knit fabric, I will definitely go down a size. It comes with three more sleeves though their website.
Currently, I have been working on repairs. I have a linen dress with ‘too short’ sleeves so I cut off the cuffs. I opened the seam for several inches and finished off he edges, then made a hem. The sleeves have a tab so I buttoned it over and it looks good. I’m glad I left it on. I usually pick them out because they bother me and I never use them.
Next up, a skirt that’s too long and an old shirt that I just can’t throw away.
Busy Week
September 5, 2017Last week, I never seemed to have the time to write. My daughter stopped by for a short visit. She seems so very happy these days. The last two years have been pretty hard for her. It is so great to see those big brown eyes sparkle again. Mothers worry.
My son came by on Friday. He had been in Ocean City for the week. He said he had a lot of fun. He even went parasailing with a friend. This really surprised me. He is very near-sighted (like me before cataract surgery) and tends to be cautious.
My new rug finally came and I love it and so does Don. I also got a runner for the foyer. Sweetums is so tickled with it, he wants a small one for the back door. I wonder how long it will take to get here.
I am also making a dress. I’ve been wanting to make this all Summer. It’s supposed to be cooler the next several days. Will I get a chance to wear this year?
Quilted Scarves
August 27, 2017These are done. I am so glad! I have four squares left. I thought about making covers for my tablet and phone. That just seemed like too much. I am so sick of these that I believe I will add them to the bottomless pit most people would call a spare bedroom. There is a single bed in there under three feet of ‘stuff’. We have a queen size sleeper sofa so its unnecessary. I think there is a quilt on it, so I might dig that out one of these days.
I decided to make myself a dress. I looked through my fabric stash and pulled out some cotton fabric with pink flamingoes on it. Even though it’s late Summer, that is my next project.
The Throne
August 23, 2017Here she is. Queen Flo, aka Sheena Warrior Princess, looking down her nose at me. I tell her she is just common brown tabby, but she refuses to listen. She has been this way ever since I made her own wool hand knit pad. She knows she is special. No other cat has ever sat on it. She will not allow it. (And I have the rest of the island to myself. I didn’t think it would work so well!)
Summer Socks
August 21, 2017These aren’t summer socks. These are socks I knit this summer. They are for my daughter. She saw the yarn and her eyes popped. Not only is this her favorite color, it sparkles. What’s not to love? I still need her to try them on. Her feet are longer than mine. More socks will be coming.
On the sewing front, my bedroom runners are almost finished. I still have a few squares left. I might make a new cover for my tablet.
They Are Not All Winners
August 19, 2017I bought a yarn kit. The yarn was beautiful. I also knew the price was half as much as retail. I made the cowl. I tried it on and looked at myself. It wasn’t right. I asked a friend and my best critic, my daughter, and they agreed.
So I took it apart and made this pretty scarf instead. It’s completely reversible.
Lacey Sweater
August 18, 2017I could not get a decent picture of this sweater. I took several and I don’t like any of them. Oh! And now, I notice this doesn’t have the buttons and it isn’t blocked. It really is a lovely sweater. The yarn is lace weight making it perfect for cool evenings. It felt like I was knitting it forever. I’ve got to make something with thick yarn on big needles. I need a little instant gratification.
