So….It Snowed

No walks for Don.  All he got was a short trip out to the mailbox.  He had to ‘make do’ with the front yard.  He is not happy at all.  We tried to explain that we were old farts and could easily fall, but I don’t think he was listening.

I finished some blocks.  There are still many more waiting.

Sweet Baby Rue had the best solution.

Home All Day

January 7, 2017

I was hoping to get some sewing accomplished today,  but I did  cut a few squares.  Baking a pie was more to my liking.  I still have apples and maybe enough for two more.  Sweetums was so happy!  I  also made biscuits to go with supper.  Sweetums was in heaven!  As far as he’s concerned, there is nothing better than biscuits and pie.

Thrusday Afternoon with Friends

January 6, 2017

Some knitting is accomplished.  But mostly we bitch about everything under the sun.  We had a great time.  It’s so nice to have friends of like minds.

A Crab for Jenn

January 5, 2017

When I saw the crab pattern in Knitty, I had to make it.  I used a DK weight rather than worsted and smaller needles.  I recently found some blue and green fingering, so I could make a proper blue crab.

Don was so happy when Ruth decided he was her dog.

I’m Not Going to Say It

January 2, 2017

I thought that I would try to get back to normal.  Well.  What’s normal for me anyway. Currently, I am about two months behind on my quilting blocks and it doesn’t really bother me.  Really?  Really!  Instead, I have six pairs of pants with decent sized pockets.  I also decorated some tea towels with snowmen for my daughter.  I forgot to take pictures.  On the knitting front, I made a great pair of mittens.

This took far too long.  Gotta go.

Quilt Blocks

October 16, 2016

dscf1223

Sometimes I look at my blocks and wonder.  “What was I thinking?”  Last winter I joined The Splendid Sampler.  Twice a week for fifty weeks I receive an email with instructions for a six-inch block.  I could not decide on a single group of fat quarters, so, instead of two blocks a week, I am making four.  “They’re only six inches.”  Silly me.

I have since learned that I really, really, really do not like paper piecing.  It seems such a waste of time and effort and paper.  Some I turned into applique.  It’s so much more fun.  Some I skipped.  And some I thought about enough to cut the shapes and then just sewed them together to fit.

Life Goes On

October 14, 2016

This is Don.

019  He is a Labrador/Springer mix.  I was rather surprised when I searched the two breeds how much he favors Springer Spaniel rather than Labrador.

Gus

No one wants to sit here anyway. It's got about seven years of Gus hair on it.

Putting Winter Away

May 30, 2016

I finally managed to switch my Summer and Winter clothes.  I was beginning to wonder if we were having a mini ice age.  Last week we actually had the heat on and the air on by the end of it.  It’s a wonder I don’t have a cold.  And now…it’s raining again.  I think it’s causing me to lose my mind.  I put eggs on to boil this afternoon and I completely forgot  about them.  Rubber eggs anyone?

I have made good progress with my squares.  I’m starting on four bonus blocks.  I am not making the last block.  It is all embroidery and I’m not in the mood.  I saved it in case I change my mind.  I hope to start the BOM from Australia that I joined later this week.  The fabrics are different from any that I have seen around here.  Once these are current, I have a December wall hanging to finish.  If it’s not Winter by then, there are my pants that have no pockets.  I don’t understand it.

I forgot to show the back of my new hat.  I really like this one.
