Herringbone Kimono

November 22, 2009

I am very happy with the way this is looking.  There are no shoulder seams.  You knit down from the back.It nice to do something different.  The yarn is a lovely combination of cotton, wool and nylon.  It feels soft and is easy to knit.

Olive helped.Cora is doing her exercises.  She likes to drag herself across the rug.

I Like Pins

November 20, 2009

I wear one everyday.  I have over two hundred.  I stopped counting.   This morning, I got this one out and laid it on my bed with my clothes.Little Miss Flo jumped up on the bed, decided she liked it and ran off with it in her mouth.  I managed to get it back before she hid it someplace. How can something so sweet be so bad?  She makes me crazy.

A Little Sewing, A Little Knitting

That’s it.  Olive has been waiting for my lap all afternoon.

Fifth Pair of Baby Socks

November 16, 2009

111409 021These were a lot of fun to make.  I liked the yarn and the bobble with the I-cord is adorable.  I plan to make one more pair, but not yet.  I’ve started the baby kimono from IK Holiday Gifts using the Sockotta that I bought in Chester.  This is the first magazine that I bought from IK since I stopped subscribing.  I actually found several things that I would knit.

Rain and Friday

November 14, 2009

I am really tired of this.  We couldn’t go for a walk so we went to breakfast instead.  Then we went food shopping.  Later on I washed my hair and showered.  Then we went out to eat.  That’s it.

Island Yarn Boutique in Chester

November 13, 2009

I stopped here this afternoon on my way home.  It’s right off the highway, easily off and on.  I’ve been wanting to stop for some time, but I am often coming by in the evening.  If it hadn’t been for the rain, I would have left last night and once more missed it.

This shop was definitely worth the visit.  I’ll be going back.  I might even make a special trip.  They carry a great variety of yarn that should make a variety of knitters happy.  I bought yarn for a baby sweater and, you guessed it, sock yarn.  I don’t want to think they only carry light weight yarn.  I could easily pick up yarn to make a great beautiful sweater.

Standard Time

November 8, 2009

It’s not even 6PM and it’s black outside.  I can’t stand it.  And it’s only November.  It was warm enough today to sit outside and knit today.  I had to stop around 330 because the sun was too low.  This bites.

Tomorrow I’m meeting the “girls” for lunch at the pizza place in Hampstead.  Wednesday, I’m going to Amish country with my daughter.

That’s it.  I have to pack.  See you.

Heat

November 6, 2009

We finally turned it on this afternoon.  We go through this every year.  Do we turn it on or grin and bear it?  It was all right when we were trying to clean for company this evening.  But then it was time to shower and my bathroom is cooler than the rest of the house.  And Flo kept trying to adhere herself to us.  So, you know where her vote went.  We did find one alternative.

110609 007There’s nothing like fleece to keep a gal warm.  She stayed in there for about two hours.  Do you think that if I made her a body suit, she would wear it?

More Baby Socks

I couldn’t decide on which picture to put up, so here’s both.  These were definitely the most fun to make.  And the color is great, too.110409 005These were esy to make, but I made a bad yarn choice on this one.  I also think they would have looked better if I had used a thinner yarn and smaller needles.  I still plan on making two more pair before going on to something else.

110409 007Here’s my new sock kit.  The varigated yarn is sparkly!  OOO!

It was only in the mid-fifties today, but it wasn’t windy.  We walked around the horse farm and then down to the river.  It was so beautiful sitting out on the pier.  And so quiet.  I loved it.  I love living here.

Two Cats in My Lap

It makes for very difficult blogging.  I’ve got two more baby socks to show you and some great pictures of Cora.
