Mad Scientist

April 3, 2022

I made this for my grandson. He graduated from college a few years ago, but other projects and life kept me from starting. Usually, I only have two knitting projects at a time: a small one to carry and a big one for home. That doesn’t include knit-a-longs. Last year I joined two KALs which drove me crazy. I’m always anxious to finish.

Working with Alan Dart patterns is a love/hate situation. How does he do it? I hate knitting them, but I love the end product. The gloves were supposed to be black but getting that much detail in was impossible to see so I had to change to green.

Tiny Basket

January 6, 2020

I am trying to knit Mrs. Tittlemouse from Beatrix Potter.  I think Alan Dart has made every character except her.  Unfortunately she is my daughter’s favorite, so I am trying to use others like Hunka Punka to make her.  I couldn’t find a basket I liked so I came up with this one.  It seemed to need something so I knitted a little napkin.  It is leaning against my laptop glasses for size.

Simply Knitting

May 26, 2018

I have been wanting to collect all my Alan Dart designs into a binder.  I recently found plastic sleeves that are high enough.  I guess I should mention that the pages are British and longer than ours.  I got out my spiffy little cuter and spent nearly eight hours vandalizing my Simply Knitting magazines.  I also removed any other patterns that I thought I might actually knit which was very little.  And the magazines went into the paper trash.  I wonder what I will get into tomorrow.

I finished making myself a pair of gloves a couple of evenings ago.  I used a partial skein of sparkly self striping sock yarn.  I love to make gloves.  It’s the only way that I can get them to fit.
